THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s basketball and Cincinnati, a new member of the Big 12 Conference, have agreed to a two-game series that will be played this season and next. The Yellow Jackets will travel to play Cincinnati Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Fifth Third Bank Arena, and will host the Bearcats at McCamish Pavilion during the 2024-25 season on a date to be determined.

The teams have met 11 times previously, most recently in the 1996 NCAA Southeast Regional semifinal at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky., a game won by the Bearcats, 87-70. The teams first met in 1926, then eight times when both institutions were members of the Metro Conference, and again in the 1994 Rainbow Classic in Honolulu, Hawai’i. Cincinnati holds an 8-3 lead in the all-time series.

The Bearcats, 23-13 last season and 11-7 in the American Athletic Conference, reached the quarterfinals of the National Invitation Tournament. They join a strong non-conference lineup for Georgia Tech, which also includes the ACC/SEC Challenge against Mississippi State at home (Nov. 28), Penn State in the Holiday Hoopsgiving event at State Farm Arena (Dec. 17), the annual Tech-Georgia game in Athens (date to be announced) and the Diamond Head Classic (Dec. 21-24) in which the Jackets will face Massachusetts in the opening round.
