I realize we don't have a bunch of 4-5 star guys on defense. That said, we are not devoid of talent. I know some of our DBs are a tad short, but we were not getting out jumped by a bunch of 6-5 wide receivers on throw-it-up tosses.
The realization that we don't have a bunch of 4-5 star guys allows me to give grace to our team. That grace can only extend so far when we give up over 550 yards and blow a three touchdown halftime lead.
Where I need help here is this: are we so overmatched physically that I should expect these results or is our defensive philosophy/coaching the real culprit?
I was joking when I made my comment about George helping us since he isn't doing anything anymore. However, could a defensive genius help level the playing field on D? Or is there no coach who can make us better unless and until we suddenly start signing 4-5 star guys on D?
I'm just a fan and don't pretend to know the difference between man free and cover two. All I know to do is stand and scream on third down and other important situations.
Fire jacket? Tazbanks? Is this the best we can do? I'll still stand and scream for our D, but dang I could manage my frustration level a helluva lot better if I knew it was an athletic issue and not schematic.
I'm like 95 percent of all fans---I just watch the ball, so I don't know if this is a Ted thing or an athletic thing. Help me please.
