Things are starting to settle down for the remaining spots for the 2018 class.

Here is where things stand

Michael Barrett is expected to sign with Michigan. GT wasn't sure they'd ever get the signature from the beginning, they knew he was a likely NSD flip if the right offer came and he could still screw Michigan if a bigger fish comes along late.

LB Aaron Brule just isn't going to make it here academically from what I understand. There are no plans for him to visit right now. I'd bet he ends up at Arkansas.

DE Jamarcus Chatman may visit whoever has his last. VT is now number, they jumped UNC then FSU/Miami who have been his number ones. Miami has the last visit so I think he'll end up there.

Archer CB Taiyon Palmer has eliminated GaTech from consideration, they got in on that just because he was a really talented kid, but they came in too late.

RB "commit" C'Bo Flemister is going to ND this weekend. The Irish are desperate for RBs, they only have three (including an early enrollee) on the entire roster after dismissing two kids. GT is still recruiting C'Bo and CAM is still working on it, but it may be a long shot to get him to be the 4th RB in the class for GT. We will see how the visit goes. Anthony Grant is not going to Tenn so that may make them circle around harder as well.

GT added two preferred walk-ons to the class

DB Thomas Rudolph who is from a multi-generational GT family (nephew of Coleman Rudolph) and SC PK Cliff Gandis who Chris Sailor thinks is a borderline FBS kicker, meaning he could develop over time into someone who could end up kicking full-time in college.

So now you are asking yourself, well is CPJ just rolling a few ships to 2019, the answer no. They have a handful of graduate transfers they are working to get into grad school for the summer, they would be immediately eligible including a DL and a kicker.

The focus on HS recruits however has switched to 2019.

The Jackets will hold a pair of Elite Junior Days on Saturday and Sunday with just 10-15 players at each one. It will be a relationship centered event instead of the tours and whatnot they usually do at the bigger JR Days. These are all kids they want to sign. The Sunday guys can go to the Clemson hoops game as well. That is a common JR tactic. The idea is they want to get more guys out of this group of their elite early targets. By comparison here is who was here early last year. GT was in the mix for most of them except for Mabry and Sims and the ones they never offered like Watson, Tubbs, Smith and Strickland. Last year was a bigger group of 30.

Here were the guys at the First JR Day last year and where they signed/committed
