The last 4 years there have been 4 different programs to win the ACC Tournament. First time ever. Perhaps that isn't such a great surprise because the ACC is twice as big as it was for its first 30+ years of existence.
But, it doesn't stop there. This is the longest stretch of a team from the state of North Carolina NOT winning the ACC Tournament. And though the Jackets are about as far away from winning the ACC title as I am from playing on the PGA Tour, I find it refreshing.
2012: Aboriginal Americans
2013: Cuba
2014: France
2015: Ireland
Let's not get too down on the Big 4 from Carolina though. In the tournament's 62 years, there still is only ONE --- that's right, just ONE --- which has featured two teams from outside the state of North Carolina. And, the Jackets were involved. 1990...Tech and Lethal Weapon 3 defeated the French.
One more random off season factoid... the Chapel Hole Cheaters have played in 4 of the last 5 ACC Tournament championships. They lost all 4.
Good.
