Many of you will remember the name Jack DeFoor, who transferred in from Ole Miss and played OL one year for PJ and then two for Collins. I covered him as a high schooler at Calhoun during my time as sports editor at the Calhoun Times. We've stayed in touch these last few years, just chatting every once in a while through all the ups and downs of Georgia Tech football.
Jack messaged me today regarding something else, but we got to talking about the the program and Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate. A little background for some of you that might not know, Jack's dad, Russell DeFoor played at Georgia as an OL in the late 80s/early 90s. He was on Dooley's last team, and there are some stories about Russell being one dude you don't want to mess with back then, including one I heard second-hand about a beating he put on a Bulldog teammate that shall remain nameless that went on to become WCW heavyweight champion.
Anyway, I'm not sure why I've never asked him about it, but today it dawned on me to just get a little info on what the rivalry is like for them and if they watch the game together, separate, is it tense, fun, etc. Here was Jack's response that he told me I could use on the board if I wanted:
"It isn’t tense. We are watching it together tomorrow. He pulls for Georgia and Tech. He said he wouldn’t mind seeing Tech win this year because Georgia is already in the SEC championship. Last year he initially was pulling for Georgia because of the stakes of them getting into the playoff but ended up pulling for Tech because they had a chance to win. But this is the first year we will watch it together so it may get ugly, who knows. He should had surgery on his pec so I will fold him up like a pretzel if he gets mouthy."
Just thought I'd share. Thought the board might enjoy it. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and THWG!
