ATLANTA-- Mother Nature gave Georgia Tech's football team a break on Wednesday with light showers in the area. Jackets head coach Paul Johnson opted to let his team practice in shells to make the most of the cooler temperatures as well.

"Practice was good. It rained a little bit. I thought the energy was good and a we didn't do too many interactions because we got after it pretty good for a couple of days so we were in shells. We will get back to full pads tomorrow and shells Friday morning and then scrimmage on Saturday."

The team went over to the College Football Hall of Fame earlier in the day and Johnson said he thought his players were moved by the experience.

"I think the kids enjoyed it and it is a neat place," Johnson said. "I haven't been over there since it moved to Atlanta and it was pretty cool. I looked at pretty much everything and some of the Georgia Tech guys and the history here. I enjoyed watching a little bit of Georgia Southern and Tracy Ham and some of those guys from back when I was coaching way back when. It was fun."

PJ opens with a joke about Mark Bradley and Ken needing to get a job at the GTAA since the paper's circulation is down.

Qua Searcy (ankle), Marcus Marshall (knee) and Nathan Cottrell (hamstring), all should be back for the scrimmage.

CPJ said Jalen Camp has been impressive and made some nice catches, physically he is the most ready of the three freshmen as well because his dad is a trainer. CPJ said his body is not normal for a freshman, has strong hands. Hopes he can transition to big player.

CPJ said Christian Philpott is doing okay, CBP said Christian is just getting his confidence back, said he lots some of his swagger after getting hurt and it took him some time to get that confidence back that is required at WR.

Jake Stickler said that he, Andrew Marshall and Trey Klock tied for the most lost body fat percentage at 11% of the OLs.

Brad Stewart said he has shaved off a bunch of fat and is much faster and stronger still at 200 pounds right now.

CPJ said Dabo and Jimbo told him about the concussion padding that they used and they bought enough for any player to use. Said a few of the kids with head injuries are using them that aren't linemen. CPJ said the coaches like them because they have a black thing in the back and the coaches can where the guys are looking on film.

CPJ said Clinton Lynch has been the most effective A-back in camp so far. Said he thinks they will be okay there and 5-6 rotation is what he expects this season.

Will Bryan said he gained a lot of weight and dropped his body fat percentage to 16% compared to in the 20s last year at 270, he is 295 now.

CPJ said that Jake Stickler has made some good progress.

CPJ and CLO said they are still figuring out the return game, running five guys at KR and PR.

Mikell Lands-Davis said he finally feels like he is a WR, said he dropped some body fat and is moving well, said the biggest adjustment was how the ball is delivered at WR compared to AB or BB. CPJ told him he is not moving anywhere and that is his position.

CBP said that Harland Howell had a couple of nice plays today, said that he needs to be more consistent day to day and that should help him get on the field more, but he has all the tools.

CLO talked about taking over special teams and he has worked with the Falcons staff and some others he wouldn't mention. He wants to surprise people to open the season with their strategy.

CLO said that he thinks everyone is buying into special teams and you will see starters on special teams for the first time in a while under CPJ, said that the whole team is buying into it.

CLO said the team has a lot of chemistry and internal leadership.

Will Bryan said the Morgan twins are doing better, thinks they will contribute this year in a major way. Talked about how Freddie Burden is a great leader for the team.

CBP talked about how he is working with the WRs to use their hands more out of the breaks, said officials are letting the CBs locking up and kind of hold guys at the line and that has thrown some of their plays out of sync in the passing game, said that was a point of emphasis this fall.

CLO said he did not take a vacation this year, was busy studying for special teams coordinator duties.

CLO said he has been pleased with the A-backs, said he is still trying to amp up the focus level.

CPJ approached CLO about being the special teams coordinator.

Will Bryan said he loves playing guard and likes being in a more confined space in the middle of everything and he enjoys pulling.
