CPJ said that Francis Kallon had about 12 tackles in the scrimmage and
played his best since he has been on campus. Said he is hopeful that he
will continue to show progress.

WR Ricky Jeune made a couple of nice plays in the passing game on Monday in 11-on-11.

Nick Brigham is running with the ones at center, PJ said he is now serviceable there and is working toward knowing all three line spots since that is his best chance to get on the field. PJ said he may not beat out Andrew Marshall or Freddie Burden but they think they will be comfortable with him playing if needed by the end of spring if he keeps progressing at center.

Quaide Weimerskirch looked much better in day two of pads and is picking things up. C.J. Leggett had a much better practice on Monday as well.

Bryan Chamberlain is staying at LG and is happy there because he is more comfortable playing in less space and thinks it is a better fit for him. Trey Braun is at RG and Gary Brown and Shamire DeVine are rolling with them. Shamire would likely play a bigger role as a key rotation guy rather than full game starter at this point.

CPJ got into a long discussion about why they are keeping Justin Thomas in yellow. Apparently Ken didn't understand the idea of not beating the crap out of him all spring especially with three of the six top OLs out for the spring. Basically PJ said they will let him go live some but especially early in camp they aren't doing it. He said Justin has to learn to run through some plays. For a reference most schools do not hit the QB even in the spring game…

The Yellow Jersey thing was a moot point with Nesbitt and Washington as seniors they both missed their senior springs with surgery and Tevin was always battling for his job the other years. This is the first time they had a real incumbent QB since the spring of 2010.

Mike Summers got dinged in practice today (nothing major) and Antonio Messick took over at his spot. Ricky Jeune has been rolling as the starter at the other WR position.

CPJ said they really need Summers to step up and take a bigger role in the offense.

CPJ said he has been happy with Dennis Andrews (said Dennis needs to focus a little more in practice) and Clinton Lynch and Qua Searcy. Said the later two are coming on. Isiah Willis has had a very good camp and is in a position to help the team some this year at A-back as well. Said he likes the ability of Lynch and Searcy long term there.

CPJ said the offense had a great practice today, said that is the way things have worked at GT, one day the defense is better and the next the offense is better.

CPJ and CBP said they really like Messick but he has to learn the routes and what to do better. Messick said that is also something he is working on and he has spent time talking with Smelter about how to do that.

Shamire DeVine is expected back on Wednesday.

CPJ said they are working on some wrinkles with the passing game to get Justin in space more to open up things so he can see better.
