Georgia Tech went in full pads on Tuesday as preparations for Georgia were underway. Tuesday also marked the final day of classes for the Jackets before the Georgia game. Yellow Jacket quarterback and B-backs coach Bryan Cook talked about why he was unhappy with the offensive performance against Virginia after practice and how the staff aims to get things back on track.
"The first play was indicative of the start we had," Cook said. "You can't come out and punt the ball as often as we did and not sustain drives. Really, a missed assignment on the first play of the game for a fifth-year senior and three-year starter is in excusable."
Cook said that he expects a better performance from Thomas on Saturday. The Jackets will have Thomas along with both B-backs, Marcus Marshall and Dedrick Mills for the first time since Duke game.
Junior wide receiver Ricky Jeune provided some levity on Tuesday when he was asked what his plans were for Thanksgiving. The New York native will spend his Thanksgiving with one of his teammates.
"I'm going to P.J. Davis' for Thanksgiving," Jeune said. "It should be interesting!"
CBC said they haven't set a hard fast order of how they will use Marcus Marshall and Dedrick. Cook said that Marcus has struggled in pass pro and with his run blocks some and that is why Marcus Allen played some on Saturday.
CMS said that he expects to have the entire complement of OLs for UGA. Sounds like Jahaziel Lee will start again at LT, Braun at LG, Burden at C, Bryan at RG and either Eason Fromayan or Andrew Marshall.
CMS said that the key with a 3-4 defense is guys blocking the correct guy, said the OTs struggled some and that Freddie struggled with the slanting upfront by UVA. Said they are working on that again this week. Said Kenny Cooper's pad level has been better than Freddie and is part of the reason they put him back in there.
JT said he was rusty and a little emotional on Saturday and that he had some trouble getting going. Said he will play better this week.
Clinton Lynch said he has been smack talking with Lorenzo Carter this week, said they have a lot of fun jawing. Said being on the sideline at the win in Athens in 2014 was really amazing and he wants to feel that as an active participant this time.
Brad Stewart is trying to practice. His knee checked out fine, so he just has an ankle injury. They are going to try and get him ready, but he may not PR. Qua Searcy and the Austin twins would handle that instead. If Brad can't go, Mikell Lands-Davis would be next because his blocking is light years better than any of the backups. They do want to see if Jalen Camp can step it up blocking since he has been practicing well so he would roll in some too.
Harrison Butker talked about becoming a GT fan because he was annoyed that everyone at Westminster were UGA fans. Said he got into GT basketball and then the football team and he says that he gets well wishes from his former classmates this week.
