Georgia Tech wrapped up full padded practice for North Carolina on Wednesday and head coach Paul Johnson said the key now is to keep everyone healthy for the final stretch run of games.
"Practice has been okay, no problem. It is typical this time of year that you cutback and try to get everyone healthy," Johnson said.
Starting B-back Dedrick Mills missed the Duke game with a concussion and Johnson said he was able to practice on Wednesday.
"Dedrick was able to go today," Johnson said. "We will see (if he can go on Saturday)."
Mills has been cleared by the concussion protocol according to Johnson.
Johnson also said he has no idea what to expect on Saturday from his team and UNC that have struggled so much on defense.
"You never know what to expect sometimes when you expect something you get a 6-3 game," Johnson joked. "We haven't had a 6-3 game in a while, but it is not out of the realm of possibility."
CPJ said they know who will return kickoffs, didn't want to share.
CPJ offered a no comment on Jalen and Christian situation. Lawrence Austin will be the backup SS, Meiko Dotson will back up Law at nickel. Step Durham knows nickel as well and can move there.
CPJ talked about how most of the teams in the division get a bye before they play GT (half the teams got one), Duke, UNC, Miami this year got bye weeks. Said each team is allowed to request one thing from the league, GT requests not to have a home game during fall break at GT, other teams request the extra time off. CPJ said it helps them from health and time to prepare some for GT.
CPJ said UNC has a good team and he thinks GT has gotten better so they will see what happens.
CPJ said the defense is working on getting simpler, but they will see what happens in the game.
B-back Marcus Marshall is nursing a sore back, that's why he could return kicks in the Duke game and why Marcus Allen got so much work.
CPJ said that there were 10-11 series, can't run 100 plays, but UNC still won, you have to try and score on every series and try to stop them from scoring and if you can then you can win.
CPJ said referring to the Smelter reverse scoring too fast, he said you have to score when you can score and you can't be at the point where you are afraid to score too fast then they are in real trouble. Said the offense is not that efficient to have a guy fall down. CPJ said he doesn't care if they have 1 play or 10 play scoring drives.
