Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson said the Jackets are focusing on a mix of fundamentals and preparations for Duke during the Jackets' bye week.

"We spend a little more times on fundamentals and we went good against good in pass skeleton and we will mix in a little bit of that, but you are still working team stuff towards Duke."

Johnson said he has not given any regular reps to scout team players this week unlikely earlier in his career.

"They are playing on the scout team so you see them. I used to let kids scrimmage, but with the way the numbers are these days I'm afraid to get guys hurt and then you don't have a good scout team," he said.

CPJ said that they will continue to use the safeties up in the box, CPJ said that Corey Griffin is good against the run coming down in the box and that is something they've looked at.

CPJ said he thinks the offense is getting better, six of 9 and six of 8 scoring offensively.

CPJ said that he is hoping to get P.J. Davis back for Duke, said Step Durham is probable for Duke.

CPJ said not having PJ Davis hurt the defense, senior leader and one of the better players.

CPJ said they are tackling just as much as they have in practice, doing turnover circuits and tackling.

CTR said that they have been self scouting and he has dumped some things that haven't worked all season and he is working to fix some of their tendencies on defense.

CPJ said that the offensive efficiency is getting better, average yards per play are 5.9 yards per play, if you run 80 plays that is well over 400 yards.

CPJ said Total Offense and Total Defense are useless stats and a cherry picking stat, said if you play 18 possessions that will favor total offense every time and if you play 9 a game it favors the defense in that stat.

CPJ said the defense has done a good job avoiding big plays and scores, would like to be better on 3rd down. Said they have to do better on 3rd down. Said third and shorts are problem, given up scrambles and penalties and when you get third and long you have to get them off the field. Said GSU game had the most negative plays, said second down GSU got 7-8 yards per play and then made 3rd and shorts hurt.

CPJ said the offense is not where it is supposed to be or where he wants them yet, said it is getting better. Said Duke is better on D than GSU.

CPJ said that Ricky Jeune and Brad Stewart have played better the last two weeks.

CAM said that Jalen Johnson is coming along and they would like to get him more involved. Said that having AJ and Corey in the box helped keep them a little more involved in the game.

CTR said that it was his decision to go back to the box and CAM handled LBs and Ss on the sideline.

CTR said that he wants to get more aggressive and they are trying to balance that versus giving up big plays and that is the biggest issue for DCs in the current football environment.

Chase Alford said he played okay in place of PJ Davis, said he is cross trained at all three LB spots, but he had a few calls that he had to get help on.
