There are many, a metric **** ton really, of computer rankings out there. While of course they don't mean much at the end of the day, I find them interesting mainly because you tend to see a lot of variation in them. They also are taking a look at teams without the group think that permeates the media and coaches polls. One other thing I like is that some of them break out offense and defense rankings(a couple even have special teams) which can be interesting for tracking the progression of those units.
I'm going to try and do this every week during the season. Expect it to get updated throughout the week because it takes some of the rankings several days after the games are played to input the data and calculate everything, where as some use a simple SOS model and update almost in real time on Saturday. I'll work on a better way to display them as well so it's easier to compare our ranking on different sites and throw in the human polls for reference.
Another thing to note, many computer rankings incorporate a preseason ranking of some kind during the first several weeks of the season that slowly losses influence as more games are played and is usually gone all together by the mid point of the season at the latest. Keeps them in reality when there are few data points.
Notes: Football Outsiders F/+ is a combination of FEI and S&P+. FEI doesn't break out units until week 7. Colley Matrix doesn't use a preseason ranking, so it'll take a few weeks before it's useful.
