PJ DAVIS AND HARRISON BUTKER
On sense of urgency
PJ- I see a sense of urgency and everyone is giving their best to get ready.
ON PLAYERS TEAM
HB- we've had a lot of guys step up and PJ Davis has stepped up to build team building exercises.
PJ- as a team we've been showing the young guys how we do things around here. We call it TFT, all the guys meet with Derrick Moore our chaplain and we bond and get closer.
HB- We went over individually and what they can give up, TFT is team focus time.
ON MEDIA HAVING LOWER EXPECTATIONS
PJ- We use that as motivation and we are usually underdogs and we use that to make us better.
HB- as players we try not to focus on that and CPJ has talked about it and we can do a lot better than
ON SPECIAL TEAMS
HB- this is my third special teams coordinator, I have a close relationship with coach Owens he recruited me and Ryan Rodwell and Casey Wilson our snapper. Right now I'm just working with Rodwell and Wilson.
ON HOW THAT WILL WORK WITH COACH OWENS
HB- It is film driven right now and we meet once a week and go over stats and he is making sure we go in the right direction.
ON GOALS
HB- I've set goals and it didn't go well, don't kill it, hit the XP like you would a 50-yard FG, i feel really comfortable right now.
A BREAKOUT PLAYER ON THIS TEAM
PJ- I would say Dedrick Mills can watch out for him.
WHO ON THE DEFENSE HAS STOOD SO FAR IN PRACTICE
PJ- To be honest everyone is working hard and a couple of younger guys like Glanton and Cerge have shown a lot of effort and a lot of the DL-men.
ON WHEN HIS BIG JUMP WAS PRODUCTION WISE
PJ- Coming from freshman to sophomore year I felt much better, it was see ball, get ball, sophomore I knew what I was doing and made a lot more plays.
ON PJ WANTED THE TEAM TO BE PLAYER RUN
PJ- to me that means he wants leadership from the players' standpoint and implement the goals into the young guys, that is what he means. I think we are close to that and that leads the grp.
ON MOTIVATION FROM STAYING HOME LAST YEAR
HB- it was motivating to me, there wasn't a huge difference in how we played two years ago versus this year, we want to keep guys together and that is the difference, CPJ said the margin of error is so small and it does come down to how close the team.
PJ- it was a terrible feeling and not playing and going to bowl games and last year we didn't it was a terrible feeling and it is motivation and go farther this year than just a bowl game.
ON IRELAND
PJ- I'm very excited and I've never been out of the country. I'm excited.
HB- I haven't thought about it much, I'm focused on the season as a whole, but my family is excited.
PAT GAMBLE AND LAWRENCE AUSTIN
ON WHAT IT IS LIKE GOING THROUGH YOUR SENIOR YEAR
PG- It is pretty good enjoying it and taking it day by day, June 2012 seems like yesterday and been on some great teams and ready to.
ON WHAT AUSTIN'S ROLE IS
LA- Playing a little free and strong safety and nickel mostly, trying to help our younger guys. We got a lot of guys that have played a lot and a lot of different faces trying to get things going.
ON FINISHING THE SEASON STRONG
PG- Continuing to work on my craft and doing offseason workouts and translate that to the field.
ON AJ GRAY
LA- AJ is a just a natural baller and the ball finds him or he finds it. He might do something wrong, but still get an interception or knock the ball away.
ON PUTTING LAST YEAR BEHIND
PG- We are all just together as a team and we've got a lot of leaders on the team and we see more in ourselves than others, we will give ourselves a chance to win if we execute.
ON WHAT YOU CAN AVOID THAT WENT WRONG LAST YEAR
PG- We had a lot of injuries and young guys that have never played before, when you step out in front of 100k people, you get shell shock. We are looking forward to this year.
ON CREATING MORE PRESSURE OR PLAYING MORE LOOSE OVERALL TEAM ENERGY SO FAR
LA- We are using last season and motivation and 3-9 is everywhere and it is motivation and coming off the Orange Bowl, lot of people are predicting us as such and such and that puts a chip on our shoulder.
ON FRANCIS, BRENTAVIOUS AND KYLE
PG- We've got some real depth and those guys can play and they've showed they can play. We just have to do it on Saturdays.
ON SPECIAL TEAMS BEING DIFFERENT
LA- We are keeping it similar in a way, but getting the best players on the field, getting the best players on the field.
ON COACH ROOF'S DEFENSE GOING INTO YEAR FOUR
PG- He is just giving us the same thing, putting it our heads, if you learn the system you can play fast and keeps doing, that we know the system every day.
ON GAMBLE BEING A LEADER
PG- Keep motivating them and get them knowledge of the game and been in the good and bad, had both happen to me and it is play by play, not one at a time.
ON BREAKOUT PLAYER FOR THIS TEAM
LA- I think AJ Gray is going to have a big year.
PG- I'd say the same AJ. Everytime I see him he makes a play on the ball whether it is a fumble or interception that is something we need.
ON 3-9 BEING EVERYWHERE
LA- we are constantly reminded, being at home during bowl season, seeing it on social media, that.
ON SEEING GOTSIS IN THE NFL
PG- it is a strong motivator since he came in with me, I don't have to force the issue, the plays will come to me if I do what I need to do.
SOMETHING ABOUT IRELAND
LA- it is far away.
PG- I was talking to a guy on the team and he said Fish n Chips is something special, I want to see that.
ON THE KICK SIX
PG- For me, I can't get away from it, these guys always playing with the, is that the hand. That is in the past and we have to move forward.
LA- I get mistaken for Lance all the time so sometimes I go with it.
ON YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH LANCE COMPETING
LA- we are both super competitive so we are always competing and pushing each other and our teammates. We get on each other to be great as well as the rest of the team.
ON GAMBLE GROWING FROM A FROSH
PG- I'm from Carrollton a guy at a small school, growing and prospering and getting my degree and being an ambassador for my hometown and school.
WHO HAS STOOD OUT ON THE DL
PG- I think Kyle and Brentavious have been playing good ball, Kyle played some last year and Brentavious has made plays and improved on his whole game.
ON FRANCIS GETTING TO THE NEXT LEVEL
PG- Francis has all the tools and athleticism and size, he has everything he needs to be successful and needs to put it together and follow what coach P has been teaching us and he will be fine.
On sense of urgency
PJ- I see a sense of urgency and everyone is giving their best to get ready.
