3 Golfing J's will tee it up this weekend in hopes of winning an elusive major championship.

Chesson Hadley is grouped with Ryan Helminen (USA) and Rory Sabbatini (South Africa) in the first group out this morning (Thursday) at 7:45amET/6:45am local time. The threesome will tee off #10 on Friday at 1pmET. Hadley currently stands at #78 in the FedEx standings.

Matt Kuchar will be playing with Victor Dubuisson (France) and Charl Schwartzel (South Africa), going off the 10th tee Thursday morning at 8:15amET. They will tee off #1 on Friday at 1:30pmET. Kuchar remains in the top 10 standings for an auto-qualify berth to October's Presidents Cup to represent Team USA. He is 37th on the money list this year having earned just south of 2 million dollars. He starts today 28th in the FedEx standings.

Cameron Tringale is paired with Danny Willett (England) and John Senden (Australia), going off the 1st tee Thursday at 2:40pmET while teeing off the back side on Friday at 9:25amET. Tringale has earned right at 1.5 million on the tour so far this season and starts the tourney at #54 in the FedEx standings.

Next week, the tour moves to Greensboro, NC, for the Wyndham Championship. This will be the last PGA event of the season prior to the 4 legs of the FedEx playoff event run through September and culminating with the Tour Championship at East Lake CC in Atlanta in late September. These 3 guys will have a chance along with hopefully Nick Thompson...though he may need to do well at Greensboro next week.

Kooch having a helluvan opening round. -4 thru 16 holes. Hopefully, he can finish it off. 6 birdies + 2 bogeys so far. Let's go KOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCH! He's due to win a major.

Kooch finishes at -4 and is in great shape after round 1. Hadley was -1 heading into his final hole today which he double bogeyed to finish at +1. Frustrating for him. Tringale in the afternoon.

The weather is warm and muggy by clear today. Chance of scattered t'storms tomorrow. Weekend looks great. Hoping 3 GJ's are playing this weekend.

Whoa! What a rough day for Cameron. +6 and he'll have to post one heckuva low round today to get into weekend play. He got off to a terrible start going +8 on the front 9 and then settling down to come back in at -2 to finish +6. He tees off this Friday morning at 9:25amET and will be going off #10 to start.

Chance of storms this afternoon and hot weather today, but tomorrow and Sunday look gorgeous. Both Chesson and Kooch tee off just after 1pmET today. Rooting hard for Matt.

Kooch dropping two stokes in the final two holes had to be frustrating. In fact, the entire day had to be a bit frustrating for him. Missed some makeable putts and had a lot of tap-ins, no putter magic for Kooch today. Knocking a layup into the pond had to hurt too. Still, he was even on the day and remains in the hunt at -4. Let's hope this was his grind-it-out round and things break better for him this weekend. Chesson also made the cut at even.

A club pro made the cut for the first time since 2011 at the PGA Championship. Big shout out to Brian Gaffney for making it into the weekend at even.

The heartbreak story of the day goes to David Hearn who dropped 4 strokes in the final two holes to miss the probable cut number by 1.

Jason Day finished at -20. That has to be the lowest score ever for a PGA.

Kuchar finished tied for 7th place at -12. I good finish for him. But he had chances to finishes several strokes better, maybe -15 if he had hit a few more of those putts. But I think he's pleased overall.

Hadley finished +1 and tied for 61st place. He dropped quite a few positions in the last round. with his worst round of the weekend. 73 71 70 75 Consistent scores for him.

Tringal missed the cut.
