Papakosta Shines as ACC Champion in High Jump

Tech concludes day two with a champion & three finalists



THE FLATS –
On the second day of the ACC Indoor Championships, Shanty Papakosta delivered an impressive performance to become an ACC Champion in the women’s high jump.

Papakosta secured the first-place victory by jumping a personal-best height of 1.83 meters (6-0). She went on to record two more PR’s, finishing competition with a mark of 1.89 meters (6-2.25). After this performance, Papakosta ranks third in the NCAA for the women’s high jump.

In addition to the first-place finish, three Jackets secured spots in the finals on Saturday of their respective events. Taylor Grimes was the first Jacket to qualify with a seventh-place time of 8.41 in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries.

Sheleah Harris followed with a new personal-best time of 7.33 in the women’s 60-meter preliminaries, placing third and qualifying for the finals. Jameson Miller was the final Tech athletes to qualify for Saturday’s finals with an eighth-place time of 47.69 in the men’s 400-meter preliminaries.

Tech also had several runners record personal-best times in the 800m preliminaries. On the women’s side, Riley Perlakowski ran a time of 2:10.30 and Kayla Rose finished with a time of 2:10.46. Parker Buchheit was the only men’s runner to place in the Top 15 for Tech. Buchheit placed 10th with a personal-best time of 1:50.12.
