Never checked this kid out until I read the Vandy Rival guy`s writeup above. He`s certainly got the offers - I counted 25 including four California schools, Harvard, OSU, Duke, Clemson, Auburn and Tennessee which seems to be all over him. As a native Atlantan, he transferred from Westminster to McCallie School in Chattanooga as a boarding student. His family still resides in the Metro area. BTW he`s No. 147 in Rivals` 250 and obviously a four star.
As mentioned, Duke and Vanderbilt have offered, with Vandy apparently all over him. He says he`s a city boy so he`s looking forward to visiting Nashville and checking it out.
This kid, while apparently talented just "seems" different from your typical factory lover that has that fourth star. Academics DEFINITELY are important, so it would seem we definitely should hold interest by him. After all when you`ve got a highly ranked school which is ranked as a Top Ten football school too, schools like Duke and Vandy shouldn`t provide a whole lot of competition.
Granted this is pretty new territory to us, but having a true student athlete which should definitely appreciate what we offer is the kind of target we should live for, and put our very best effort toward. As a start, our Junior Day on Feb. 28 would appear to be a very ideal first visit. Lamar Owen is his recruiter. Sure hope he`s all over this kid.
