Guys,
I understand we have injuries and are young but there is a deeper issue. I don't know if it's JT5 or CPJ, but I save all games and go through the videos and do the original pre-count read (i.e. Which direction to go) and the defenses have changed. Have yall not noticed that on the perimeter we will have 2 guys to block 3-4 more than we have ever seen? In watching them, it's not like our guard/tackles are not doing their assignment, they are (granted level of success is not great) but the numbers are not there. I think CPJ noticed this, and is why we did the fake pre-snap motion and then standing up for the play call from the sideline last week. CPJ can complain about execution (and not play calling) all he wants, but you can't expect 2 guys to block 4. In my analysis the D is giving us a deceived count (based on triple option count logic) and forcing the call to a certain side of the field, but based on our motion they flow count to that direction. Am I not crazy with this observation?
Even if the D is showing a balanced front, the amount of times we are outnumbered from a needed blocker perspective, i don't believe it's a pure execution issue... As even if every guy blocked their man, we would be outnumbered. The obvious answer then would be that we should have A-backs open down the seams.. But we don't do it.
