2 straight losses for the Cheaters have tightened things up at the top. What a week in the A.C.C. UofL self-imposes a postseason ban (and the A.C.C.T. schedule is altered for the 2nd year in a row). In wake of that, I am leaving the escort-servicing Cards out of the standings. Whoever finishes 10th now gets a break as they avoid a game on Day 1 in D.C.

Standings as of Monday morning, Feb. 8:

Top 4 Seeds (starts Friday at A.C.C.T.)
1. North Carolina 8-2
2. Virginia 8-3
3. Miami 7-3
T4. Clemson & Notre Dame 7-4 (note: they play tonight at Clemson, 9pm, ESPN-U)

Next Group (starts Thursday at A.C.C.T.)
T6. Pitt 6-4
T6. Duke 6-4
T8. Florida State & Syracuse 6-5 (note: they play Thursday night at Syracuse)
10. Virginia Tech 5-6

Day 1 at the A.C.C.T.
11. Georgia Tech 2-8
12. NC State 2-9
13. Wake Forest 1-10
14. Boston College 0-10

Yahoo's Monday Brackets projections includes 8 A.C.C. teams and Clemson as "on the bubble"... http://sports.yahoo.com/featured/ncaab/bigboard/ (and that is now of course not including a very good UofL team)

Big game for the Orangenecks at home as 1.5 pt favorites tonight against ND. Duke also has a big home game as 3.5 pt favorites against UofL.

Joe Lunardi's Bracketology is now updated and is similar to Yahoo's projections... http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology/_/iteration/223

Standings heading into the weekend FWIW...

1. Cheaters 9-2
2. French 9-3
3. Canes 8-3
4. Irish 8-4
*************
5. Hitler Youth 7-4
6. Orangenecks 7-5
7. Fruit Juice 7-5
8. Panthers 6-5
9. Indians 6-6
10. Turkey Buzards* 5-7
*************
11. Trade School 3-8
12. Pig Farmers 2-9
13. Baptist Hypocrites 1-11
14. Will They Win a Game? 0-11

Cards...who cares?

Right now, it is looking very likely that we will face BC in the 1st round of the A.C.C.T. The Turkey Buzards* have a 1.5 game lead on us for the 10th spot - plus they have the tie-breaker. We have the tie-breaker over both the Pig Farmers and Baptist Hypocrites.

If this is the way it ends up, it means we will open the A.C.C.T. with the Eagles for the 4th straight year. The old Thursday night 8 vs 9 play-in game was often humorously referred to as the Les Robinson Invitational in "honor" of the Pig Farmers always being in the game during Robinson's tenure as HC. Perhaps the new Day 1 of the A.C.C.T. can be referred to as the G.T.-BC Annual End The Season Game (for one of them at least). And, each year, one cheating program from the A.C.C. will self-ban themselves from the tournament like Syracuse did last year and Louisville has done this year giving the 10-seed a break to the 2nd day.
