May be to early for Y'all , but I'm a football guy so for me it's not.

Lets see what CPJ had to say after the last game. " it's all stuff I think we can fix and I'm hell bent to get it fixed. I can tell you that I'm not going to go thru this again" . What did he mean ? New coaches , or something else ? He did say that some of the players playing this year would not probably next see action next year. I'm kind of hoping he looks hard at two coaches that work on the offensive side of the ball.

This spring practice is going to be very important this year. ( but it still think my White team can beat GTJT's Gold team. Things to watch is two new A-backs JJ Green and Nate Cottrell who CPJ was very high on before he got hurt. Also the B- backs , I like MM but we need that back like the two we had last year . Lands- Davis and Weimerskirch could be those two.

On defense I think we may be as good or a little better then this year. Don't have much to base this on so if you can help me please do.

I'm not think we will win 12 games next year , but 7 or 8 would be nice and after spring practice we will know more.

I have no idea what to expect. Just glad this particular season is now over. It's been a very long time since I said that.

Recruiting may be more important now than ever. We are at a crossroads...along with pretty much every athletic program at Tech, IMO.

As pointed out in another thread, the rest of the ACC and Coastal in particular are either in the process of upgrading or about to upgrade their programs. Getting kind of tired of hearing CPJ talking about "getting things fixed". He said that about the defense before Groh, then during Groh, then after Groh. I know this time around he's referring more towards "his" offense. You know, "we" as he likes to refer to "our" offense. "Those" defenders - aka "they" - need fixing too but because we played one of the worst Cesspool offenses I've ever seen, I guess they get a pass now? I hope not. That unit underachieved this year big time as well...though, perhaps not nearly as alarmingly bad as the offense. When you are 8 years into your regime, should you have so much "fixing" needs at this point?

The entire season gets a big "F" - grade wise and figuratively speaking as well.

And, sorry if this is considered blasphemy, but I think the QB starting position should be opened up and real competition needs to be offered in the spring. I saw very little of the QB position this year that made me feel comfortable with it.

CPJ sounded particularly disgusted about the offensive line play and specifically our inability to protect the quarterback. At one point in the presser he said, "That's one thing I can promise we're gonna be better at" when talking about pass pro. I think if we see any changes on the staff between now and spring, it will be to address our issues on the offensive line. At this point that unit is my biggest concern going into the off season. No idea what is going wrong there, but we have seen two experienced lines play terrible football in the past three years (2013 & 2105). That tells me that something needs to be changed about how that unit is coached. We are going to be loaded at the running back positions next year so if the o-line can get fixed, things could get a lot better in a hurry on offense.

Going into this season my thinking was that the 2016 defense would be an absolute disaster. I don't feel that way at all now. Cerge-Henderson is going to be one of the better 1-technique defensive tackles that has ever come through this program. That's one position that is rarely a strength for GT, but it will be next year. Gamble played the best football of his career after Gotsis went down and I look for a big senior campaign from him. When it comes to defensive end, I think all of the snaps that have gone to young players the past two seasons will pay huge dividends in 2016. Overall, look for the front four to be better next year despite the loss of Gotsis. Linebacker will clearly be a strength so long as PJ and Brant Mitchell stay healthy. The only concern in my mind is replacing all those seniors in the secondary. We have talented kids to replace them but collectively that unit will lack experience. If they can get it figured out quickly, next year's defense should be improved.

I agree I think the defense could be better. ( I hope )

To Mr. Stech81;

Thank you very much for having me as your guest at the game and allowing me to meet the "posse". And if I had a daughter sir, I would want her to be exactly like yours!

You touched on so much of what is reality. I would add Searcy, Taquon and Marcus Marshall to the crowded ABack picture. Marcus will be better blocking and that is clearly his spot for now. With Mills coming in at BBack, with CJ, QW, Marcus Allen and Gantt in the AB mix, Howell, Phlilpott, et al at WR-the skill positions should be much better.
On defense, we redshirted some key players like Dorian Walker, Donte Wigley, Meiko Dotson, Lamont Simmons, to replace the secondary grads. Not to leave out AJ Gray, who could play at many different spots.

Totally agree with your forecasting 7 or 8 wins with the new schedule. To me 6 is the least acceptable and 9 is the ceiling. Anybody thinking more than that, needs to share some of that Brew with us.

May God bless the sidewalk fans and those alumni who survived the shaft!
