The LJ's head up north to face the 4-2 Hoosiers, led by former Tech assistant, Teri Moren, who was Coach Jo's top assistant from '07 to '10. She and Coach Jo played together and each graduated from Purdue.

Tyra Buss, 5'8" Soph. guard, is averaging 18.8 ppg. She's only 4 of 24 (16.7%) on the season so far from outside the arc, but she's getting 34 mpg and has attempted 57 free throws on the season (making 43, 75.4%). That's right at 10 free throw attempts per game. Tech's Aaliyah Whiteside is similarly getting to the charity stripe at a similar rate. She is 50 of 67 (74.6%) from the FT line through 7 games.

Indiana has 2 other players averaging double figures scoring and then it drops off to 6.0 ppg for their 4th leading scorer. Amanda Cahill, 6'2" Soph. forward, is averaging 13.8 ppg and Alexis Gassion, 5'11" Jr. guard, is averaging 11.7 ppg. Cahill is 8 of 15 from outside the arc so we'll need to respect her 3-pt making potential. She also leads the Hoosiers in rebounding at 7.7 boards per game with Gassion right behind her at 6.2. This is a young Hoosiers team as they only have 1 senior on roster.

This game is part of the ACC-Big 10 Challenge annual event. Of current ACC members who have played in this since it started, Tech is tied with Duke and UNC with the best records in this event at 6-2. (Maryland was a perfect 7-0 before leaving the ACC...and Notre Dame is 2-0 and UofL is 1-0 so far) Having said that, Tech suffered a loss at Michigan State last year by 6 pts in overtime. Sucks that we have to go on the road a second year in a row.

The Hoosiers went 15-16 overall and 5-15 in the tough Big 10 last year. After this game, Tech returns home for a 4-game homestand that includes 3 cupcakes before hosting Alabama before finishing out the pre-ACC schedule at IUPUI (pronounced for fun...ooo-eee-poo-eee).

Excellent preview, much appreciation for all the detail and information gathering.

Do you forecast a 7-2 "Challenge Record", after this road contest?

Unfortunately, I don't. I saw too many flaws in the 2 games at Mexico streamed live to have a lot of confidence in our team going on the road to a P5 program who has already defeated a solid Chattanooga team this year. Can we win? Yes, of course. Will a Tech win surprise me? No. Do I think it will be close? Pretty much from opening tip to final whistle is my guess. Tech walks away with a win? I hope so, but not counting on it.

IU plans to start 6-3 Jen Anderson for 6-1 Lyndsay Leikem to go a little bigger.

Thanks for the heads up. I was impressed by the bits of what I saw of Fortune in Mexico. I hope between Guimaraes & Martine, they can provide 20 minutes, about 8 boards and pts, and a couple of blocked shots.

As expected, this has been a tight one from beginning thru 3 quarters. Let's pull this one out, Lady J's!!!!

Early 4th quarter...LJ's up by 4.

Tech completely falls apart over the last 4 minutes of the game as the Hoosiers are now comfortably in control with a little over a minute left. Sad to see, but good effort on the road.

Buss saved her best for the final period. Last mention by Richard had her with 12 of her overall 22 so far in the 4th qt...with a little left in the game.

Tech loses 69-60. Hoosiers shot 30 free throws to Tech's 10. Home cooking? Sounds like it.

Zaire is dressed for today's game and participated in pre game drills . But she still has her warm up shirt on. She is obviously getting closer to being ready to go. A little playing time before Notre Dame would be great

13-28 on 3's, a nice percentage despite the competition. Getting the nice lead while helping Starling get in foul trouble in the first half, seemed to bury the competition by itself. GT keyed on her during the second half.

On to exams, then the bulldawgs of Samford.

This article just reinforces what we already know and that is with the ACC expanding, Coach Jo's job is significantly tougher... http://prospectsnation.com/story/signing-analysis-acc

Considering less than 5% of Tech's fanbase cares about our WBB program (just my guesstimate), we are very fortunate that Coach Jo loves Tech and Atlanta. And of the ones who do care, I am not sure some of us often enough stop and smell the roses of how fortunate we are that she hasn't bailed for much greener pastures already.

Thanks for the heads up. Not a surprise. We have a lot of bodies and depth in the post. And with Double-E eligible next year, that will be even less PT available.

Good luck to Erin.
