The Lady J's - in dire need of a victory - welcome the Cheaters Thursday night for a 7pm tip. Possibly the most corrupt and fraudulent program in the history of collegiate athletics is 2-1 in the ACC and coming off a blowout loss at Notre Dame by 34 points.
The Cheaters' roster has been significantly altered due to multiple departures by players last year. Head Cheater Sylvia Hatchell has 3 players averaging scoring in double figures:
5'8" Soph Guard Jamie Cherry - 15.0 ppg
5'10" Freshman Guard Destinee Walker - 14.9 ppg
5'11" Freshman Guard Stephanie Watts - 13.4 ppg
Watts has been named ACC ROTW twice this season.
The Cheaters are not a particularly strong 3-pt shooting team as their team percentage to date is 28.6%. They have only played 2 games out of 18 this season on an opponent's home floor - losing at Oklahoma State by 10 and this past Sunday at ND by 34. In fact, 14 of their 18 games so far have been on their home floor.
This is a huge game for the Lady J's. After a brutal ACC schedule in the first 4 games, this is a very winnable game. Tech cannot afford to go to 0-5 and must get on a nice roll with several winnable games on the horizon to get back closer to .500 and middle of the pack in the ACC.
The last meeting between these 2 programs was at the 2nd round of the ACCT last year in Greensboro when 6-seed Cheaters won by 20 over the 11-seed Lady J's. The Cheaters also won on their home floor by 15 last year. Prior to last season however, Tech had won 6 of the previous 8 meetings over the Cheaters.
If I can believe the Media Guide's records, the Cheaters hold an all-time series lead, 55-18. Most of that highly questionable of course in terms of whether their players were actually attending classes, having work done for them, etc.
Additional observations from a look at the current ACC stats (for all games)...
Good luck to the Lady J's. Let's go get this much needed win!!!!
edit note: maybe some reasoning for the departures from Head Cheater's program...
