The 10-5/0-2 Lady Jackets travel to Broughton High School's Holliday Gymnasium in the Raleigh area to face the Wolfpack. NC State is playing all but 2 of its home games this season at BHS while the old Reynolds Coliseum, home of the WBB team, is being renovated.

Tech is now sitting at #120 in the RPI coming off 2 tough losses against the ACC's elite. This is a winnable game, but will be very tough on the road as all ACC games are and will be.

The Pack (currently #78 in RPI) is also 10-5 overall but 1-1 in the ACC. They were drilled in their opener at Miami, 73-44, before coming back home to defeat the Deacs this past Sunday, 64-47. The Pack built a 36-17 halftime lead over the Deacs and cruised in the 2nd half for the win.

NC State has 3 players averaging scoring double figures. They are:

  • 5'8" R-Jr. Guard, Dominique Wilson at 13.3 (from McEachern HS in Powder Springs)
  • 5'8" Jr. Guard, Miah Spencer at 12.1 (from Columbia HS in Decatur)
  • 6'1" Jr. Forward, Jennifer Mathurin at 11.8 from Montreal, Canada
The top 2 scorers are from the Atlanta area and they have another on the roster, 5'9" Fr. Guard Camille Anderson, from Buford HS, who is getting about 13 minutes a game. Head Coach, Wes Moore, who recently received a contract extension from NC State, has tapped into the Atlanta area again by signing highly touted, Erika Cassell, from Holy Innocents in Marietta. NC State signed the #12 rated class this past November and it includes another Canadian in 5'10" wing Aislinn Konig, from British Columbia. She is rated the top player in Canada out of HS and one of the top international players coming into the collegiate game next year.

But back to the here and now...Wilson is attempting just over 6 3-pt attempts per game while hitting at a 32% clip. NC State holds its opposition to 60.7 ppg scoring. They will want to play a slower pace and enforce a hard-nosed defensive approach. Tech likely has a bit of an edge in the post and hopefully between Zaire, Roddreka, and Chelsea, they can take advantage while eliminating 2nd chance opportunities for the Pack.

NC State leads the all-time series, 43-23. The Pack is 21-8 at home. Having said that, Tech has won its last 2 trips to NC State (albeit at Reynolds) and 3 of our last 4 in Raleigh. The visiting team has won 5 of the last 6 in the series.

NC State will be streaming the game live for free starting at 7:25pm. Yipeeee! Link: http://gopack.com/watch/?Live=153

Hopefully, I can sync up the video with Beesball Richard's call via WREK. Sometimes I can get it. Sometimes not so great.

Big game for the Lady J's in their quest to avoid a bad start to the ACC schedule. Get a W in Raleigh would be huge. We have a very tough game on deck at Florida State Sunday before coming home for 4 of the next 5 and the lone road game in that streatch is at 4-10 Clemson...who is also playing a season outside their normal home...this year on campus at Jervey Gym while the Small Toilet is being renovated. Grand Master Facilities AD Dan Rad is good at renovations and building shiny new buildings as we all know.

Tech has a chance to get on a nice roll on the horizon, though every game in the ACC is very tough. Getting a road W in Raleigh again would be a nice boost for this team who needs it badly.

Excellent preview, as always. Appreciate the detail greatly.

Hopefully, someone is working with Tilford on her shot. Not saying she has to shoot three balls, but a mid-range jumper being a threat is needed. Opponents are sagging off her, while pinching on Whiteside or other shooters in that vicinity.

Roddreka playing against her little sister is another story line. I think her name is DD. Last I saw she was coming off the bench for 10 minutes a game averaging 3.3 points and 3 rebounds. Unless GT matches up against NC State in the tournament it will be the only time the Rodgers sisters square off in college.

Thanks, mate. Meet NCSU's DD Rogers... http://gopack.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=3056&path=wbball

She got 16 mins in their last game vs Wake going 3 of 4 from the field and 2 of 4 from the line, scoring 8 pts, and grabbing 7 boards. Hopefully, Big Sis has a big game Thursday night.

The roster has been updated to include transfer Kaylan Pugh and walk-on Julia Grey. Welcome to the team, Kaylan and Julia!

Kalyan played this fall at Ohio State. She sits out until the start of spring semester in 2017. Julia should be eligible immediately.

Correct about one on Zell Miller from in-state, zero scholarship players.

Guessing Lillian Andrews has departed? The family members(including Dennis)didn't exactly see the New Year with the GTAA.

Are we replacing Theresa Wenzel?
Edited: Administrators combining duties for interim. The "Big Bobber" says a replacement may not be hired right away.

Lillian isn't listed on the roster but she is sitting on the bench during games (not in uniform though). Not sure what that is about.

Halftime lead for the Lady J's, 28-26. Listening to Beesball Richard tonight. Gave up on the video streaming by NC State.

Low scoring. Cryor was brilliant, until the second foul early. She will learn to stay aggressive but lay off the high risk reach-ins.

Not sure on Fortune. Howard got a little PT in the first half.

Definitely let one get away that we could have stolen on the road last night. Before the season, I had us at 12-4/0-3 at this point and losing this Sunday's game at FSU to go to 12-5/0-4. The ACC record is where I thought it would be, but didn't think we'd lose 2 OOC games that we did.

Coach Jo's teams historically have played much better in February, but we continue to dig ourselves early holes. The schedule-maker hasn't helped this year for certain. Assuming we lose at Tally Sunday, we have got to win 4 of the next 5 (with home loss to ND pretty much assured in that stretch) just to get a chance at getting back towards .500 in the ACC. At this point, just registering a win - any win, any way - would do wonders for this team.

Like other sports, the ACC is just getting stronger and stronger and I'm afraid we are watching everybody just pass us by.

Would be nice to have a true pivot in this league. E.E. should be dominant next year by ACC time. For this year, I am not seeing it. Always good to have two or in the least a backup post.

Don't get me wrong, R.R., Zaire and Kat. can all handle the four position or slide over to the three-with two good handlers at the guard spots.
