The Lady J's return to McCamish Pavilion for the ACC opener against perennial power, Louisville. The Cards defeated #15 FSU at home (79-69) to open their ACC schedule on a positive note. The win moved UofL up to #43 in the RPI (Live) via WarrenNolan.com. The Lady J's are currently #101 in the RPI, though we moved UP 12 spots since last weekend with the loss at #2 Notre Dame.
Sophomore 6'2" Forward Myisha Hines-Allen won the ACC POTW 2 weeks ago. Tonight against the Noles however, it was fellow Sophomore 6'0" Forward Mariya Moore's 20 pts that led in the win. The current 2nd leading scorer on the team is 5'4" Junior Guard, Briahanna Jackson. And, no surprise, right behind that trio is 5-star freshman product, Asia Durr from Douglasville, who makes her return home and surely will have a large contigent of fans in attendance Sunday.
Last year's blowout win by the Cards at the KFC Yum! Center is the only meeting by these 2 programs. Here's hoping the Lady J's show tremendous improvement from the season opener a season ago. The Lady J's are a perfect 8-0 on Cremins Court this season, though this will be by far the most talented team we will have faced.
The play at Notre Dame - particularly the 1st quarter and the last 13 minutes - were tremendous by the Lady J's. Very encouraging. We'll need a full 40-minute effort with fewer defensive lapses while disallowing second chance points to the Cards. This is a winnable game for Tech (note, I didn't think so being completely honest just a couple of weeks ago).
With a winnable game at NC State on deck, a win in the ACC home opener could really set the Lady J's up to get off to a solid start to the conference schedule as we hit the midway point to the season.
The game will be streamed live via ESPN-3. Will be watching *MY* Redskins hopefully beat the Cowpunks on the big screen with the Lady J's streamed on the tablet.
The hardest working man in show business, Beesball Richard, will of course have the call via WREK.
Go Lady Jackets!!!
