I look forward to listening to the pregame with Beesball Richard and Coach Jo streamed via WREK online around 5:15 as the first part of tomorrow's opening night doubleheader with the BasketJackets playing later.

The Lady J's host Loyola-Chicago, a team we defeated to open last year's season, 92-57, in Chicagoland.

The Ramblers finished last year with a poor 6-25 overall record. Their top 2 scorers, Forward Taylor Manuel (6'2" Jr.) and Guard Taylor Johnson (5'7" Jr.), return this year. They are very young with only 1 senior on their roster along with 5 freshmen and 4 sophomores.

This should be a romp for the LJ's but you never know what you may get with first game jitters and all. Definitely should get a chance to see a lot of the new faces with the freshmen along with Gari and the new-look Avram in the post. With a game right behind it less than 48 hours on Sunday afternoon, the hope is Rogers gets her double-double, Whiteside gets her double digit scoring, and so forth in and then Coach Jo can turn it over to the newbies to get their feet wet and potential jitters out of their systems.

Plan on sitting bee-hind the GT Bench for the games this year.
Will bee watching for Richard to get his pregame pizza slices.
I've said it before many times over, RM is the finest broadcaster in multi-sporting events period. He is the most prepared basketball or beesball announcer you will find today!

Agree 622% on BR. I think he should've got the job Gaudin is in now, but that is water under the bridge I guess. (still pisses me off some I admit)

Is WREK going to broadcast the game tonight? I see no mention of WREK in the press write up of the game at rr.com. Hopefully, just an inadvertent omission.

edit note: received confirmation from Brittany McCormick that the game will indeed be broadcast by WREK like normal

A frustrating experience in that I never could get the audio of the WREK steam online, but followed via Gametracker. Hoping to read some first hand reviews. Lady J's were cruising by near 20 heading into the final quarter and watched the Ramblers draw all the way back to within 6 late in the game before holding on for a 7 pt win, 84-77.

Some eye opening scores in the ACC in openers tonight...

Gardner-Webb upsets #22 UNC in Chapel Hell, 66-65.

#23 Syracuse barely holds off Rhode Island on the road, 57-54.

An impressive win by the Deacs over LSU, 60-57.

Also... NC State defeats Villanova at home by 6, 70-64.

I don't know what may have caused your streaming issues but the archive version is available (joined in progress...)

Way too many turnovers, especially by the bigs. Once we come in with the bench players, exploitation can begin. The lack of depth(right now, with all the young parts), will hurt if we play any solid teams before ACC play. Free-throws were pretty good for an early on game. We did attack the rim at times. Three point shooting needs to get polished and more accurate, if we are going to incorporate that in our half court set, which will be needed later on when opponents switch to a zone trying to disguise it in conference play.

What's going on with O'Neil? Still not ready with the knee?

Also, the fouls blew my mind while following via GT. 3 players fouled out and 2 others had 4 at games end. We've been a fouling machine the last few years. Hopefully this gets cleaned up. With the new rules, games will take well over 2 1/2 hours if we foul that much. Loyola almost had as many as we did. Perhaps this is one reason why the game lasted so long and forced a delayed start for the men in the process???

The game started a little late.. 5:37 or so. Still it was slow with all the whistles. We were stuck in traffic on the way to the game and heard Coach Jo's pregame interview with Richard. She said Zaire won't be ready to go until ACC play.
