Great stuff. Thanks, mate. So glad you are over here posting.

Sure would be nice if Coach Jo could land Jacaira Allen (or Echols). We really need a strong player at the 2 position who can play some 3 if needed.

I view Diouf from her bio as raw and a potential redshirt candidate. Tech will have 7 post players including her for the '16-'17 season and none will be seniors -- O'Neil (Jr.), Fortune (So.), Guimaraes (So.), EE (Jr.), Avram (Jr.), Garner (So.), and Diouf (Fr.).

I read online yesterday that Allen is visiting Mississippi State this upcoming weekend for an OV. I am uncertain if we have had her in on campus. If we have or can in the future, I like our chances.

2016 commit, Zutorya Cook, could play some 2 I guess. Peresson will be there at the 2 for the next 3 seasons of course, but we sure could use Allen or Echols in a big way to add some depth. Seems like we are really set in the post for a while. We are in good shape at the point with Tilford and Cryor (and 5'7" Cook perhaps). We have Katarina to play some 3 the next 2 seasons and Howard coming in this year as a true frosh, but could use some more depth on the wing to fill Whiteside's departing role.

Noticed the Diouf height descrepencies as well(6'4" last year in one article).

I believe Allen is set up for 10-17? When Sammy and Geno were here, confirmation was easier.

You are spot on with the over abundance of post players. Almost overcompensating for our weakness in the recent past. GT needs a shooter or a 2/3 as you have illustrated. Hopefully, that is next. My worry is from us having lost the Jackson, McDonald, etc., ball players. Could lose another?

I think you can count on some attrition every year. It is just the way it is nowadays across the nation (read: not unique to GT). I still kind of wish Danica Piper had followed through and made her way to Tech. The little bit of film I saw on her provided a glimpse of some good skill sets out on the perimeter. Oh well.

I think Peresson will have a solid year moved over to the 2 this upcoming season. Katarina should be and likely will be starting at the 3. An outside shooting trio on the court at the same time with those 2 and Whiteside is even possible at times. Katarina is such a weapon. She has the height to defend and rebound inside, but has the versatility to score and defend out on the perimeter as well. Of all the players on the roster, I look for her to step up this upcoming season and have a huge year. With Davis gone, that opens up about 20 shots per game to which I am very hopeful that Peresson and Katarina will get at least half of those.

Thanks, Richard! Love having your input, as you are the expert when it comes to Basketball and Baseball at GT. Actually you probably know more about the other programs than the rest of us combined!!

We have 13 on board for next year with commits Cook and Diouf. That leaves 2 more for the max of 15. Certainly, Coach Jo would love to get Allen and/or Echols on board to get to 14. Attrition is always a possibility with someone leaving. In fact, I pretty much count on it. Coach Jo could and probably will get a grad transfer or Euro player to join in the spring.

'16-'17 projected roster...

PG: Tilford (Jr), Cryor (So), Cook (Fr)
2G: Peresson (Jr)
SF: Vuckovich (Sr), Howard (So)
PF: O'Neil (Jr), Fortune (So), Avram (Jr), Diouf (Fr)
C: Edeferioka (Jr), Guimaraes (So), Garner (So)

*Allen or Echols would fit nicely right into that 2G spot with Peresson. Cook may move over to the 2 some as well. Diouf may be a redshirt candidate due to the strong depth we have in the post. Getting a versatile 2/3 wing player in the same mold as a Aaliyah Whiteside is pretty important to this signing class. What also jumps out at you is Katarina V. will be the only senior next year (unless we get a grad transfer in).

Well, that sucks. Hopefully Echols or a Euro perimeter player will give us a shot. I wonder if Allen has family in Mississippi considering she has both the Rebs and Bulldogs on her late list.

Notre Dame is perennial powerhouse. Louisville is now a Final 4 and National Champion caliber program. Pitt has risen up since former Tech HC Aggie Berenato departed there. And, Syracuse is no slouch by any means (22-10/11-5 last year) having made the NCAAT the last 3 years.

Add these programs into the already-existing perennial powers of Duke, UNC, FSU, and the like, and Coach Jo's job along with everyone else in the pre-latest-expansion-ACC has become significantly more challenging.

Jacaira Allen wound up committing to Mississippi State yesterday, FWIW.

We still have a couple of ships to offer if Coach Jo wants to. She could save it/them for next year as Katarina is scheduled to be the only senior in '16-'17. Perhaps something is brewing for the spring - grad transfer or Euro player we don't know about or domestic player late riser???
