On a scale of 1 to "F OFF" how much do you love posters freaking out and linking click bait articles from ON3? Also, did you sleep with one of Afterswarm's Creator's wifes?
KQ- It's sort of a mid for me. I think the lack of success as both an athletic department and a football program since 2016 has everyone on edge all the time. I think it is funny everyone was freaking out about Buster Faulkner leaving or J Batt when it was Tyler Santucci who actually left for the NFL.
It is a good problem to have. Everyone in a position of power whether that is Batt, Key or Cabrera has a list of people for the time when they have to make staff changes and won't be flat-footed.
Regarding other sites, my policy has generally been to ignore and focus on what we do. I was told I would never have more than a few hundred subs on this site, I was told I would never beat the then Scout site or Sting Talk. We are at an all-time high in subscribers as of today, we have the largest network site and I have blown way past what anyone expected was possible in this market. I've had some great help along the way and have great help now. I am not worried about anyone else and my advice to anyone looking to break into the market is to focus on what they are doing and not worry what I am doing or Rod or Chad or Jackson or whoever else is.
Most successful programs have multiple sites that cover the team from various perspectives including fan-driven ones.
I am still learning about NIL.
- When a player is given an offer to play at GT, in addition to a scholarship, do all offers include a NIL package?
- When a player is offered a NIL package, is it for one year or is it for their entire time at GT which could be 2-4 years?
I believe you shared Trey Horne had a significant injury last year. Can you elaborate on type of injury and recovery. Will he be able to participate in spring practice or is this injury career threatening?
KQ- I can't remember is he tore up his knee or what exactly it was. He was on the scooter for much of the fall. He was struggling a lot before that and behind guys like Chris Elko and Trent Davis at WR. I'm not sure if that was because he was hurt or just in the freshman learning curve, but he was at the end of the rotation.
Anyone else going to miss spring practice due to injury/recovery?
KQ- I would expect Brett Seither (knee) to be iffy, DJ Moore (knee) to be iffy (he is a guy I could also see transferring post spring to find a clear path to major snaps) and I'm sure there are a few others. I'm not sure what the ETA is on Kyle Efford coming off his shoulder injury. Other guys who might be iffy, are Jackson Long (knee) and Horne (lower body).
What are the biggest position battles heading into spring/fall camp?
KQ- I usually do a story about that, stay tuned. That would be a pre-camp feature next week.
Do you believe the staff has a plan to play both King and Philo? Drawing plays similar to what they did with Pyron.
KQ- It depends on a lot of factors. I think ideally Haynes is the QB for every down and you use Philo when you need to. Philo isn't going to be used as a bulldozer on short yardage or anything like that. So I'm not sure how you rotate them.
Which under-the-radar players could make a big impact this season?
KQ- I am working on a story on that as well
Is there a must get recruiting target(s) for the 2026 recruiting class?
KQ- I think they need to load up at LB and they have a lot of really high quality targets. I could see them getting Chad Fairchild and CJ Gamble to start off the LB class. I think that spot and cornerback are two big keys in this class on defense and offensively they need to continue loading up at WR and on the OL.
Which position group is the staff prioritizing most in the next cycle?
KQ- Linebacker on defense and offensive line continues to be a major priority on offense.
