Thought folks might find this interesting. Some great points here.

"Its a lot harder to coach skills and teach a system than to overpower teams. Most coaches prefer to play the recruiting war and then turn guys loose. When they dont win they just tell alumni they need stronger players, a bigger war chest.

In the same way, this is why so many people love to hate on the triple option when it fails. It threatems the way they approach the game. If we ran a power offense the commentary during the ND game would have been all about ND being overpowering. Instead they focus on the scheme. I actually found it encouraging that the announcers seemed to credit NDs strategy rather than discredit ours. That said all that really happened is we got overpowered. Cant out-scheme that.

Last rant...

I hate hearing the triple option isnt good in third and long. I guess pro style offenses are. That would explain why they are always in that situation. The average NFL game has a touchdown on the first possession, 15 punts, and then a Touchdown in the last two minutes. That is awful to watch"
