Great Bowl game match-ups

Sweet. Schlabach with a nice sense of humor.

I think the NFL should take a cue from college football. Season ends January 3rd. They should then wait about 5 weeks and pit the 3-13 Dallas Cowpunks playing the 5-11 Miami Dolphins around February 6th in the KY Yours & Mine Lube Bowl in Las Vegas. What's on the line you might wonder? Well of course, they play one another for...wait for it...you guessed it...a trophy. Woooooooo. Great stuff. And, the players will get some really cool gifts like electric shavers and hair dryers and junk.

Looking forward to the exhibition season. One of the best wagering opportunities ever. You can usually pick 10 or 12 games where teams just absolutely don't care to be wherever they are and they "play" like it. A bettors' dream.

Who would be coaching the Mutts?
Have to pull for Dah U, in that game.

Hopefully, will be able to tear Stech81 away from his family to go get him drunk while watching some contest like W. Ky. vs. Temple. As we run back and forth from the bathroom to the bar, not missing much with the MEG. Can bet on who falls asleep first?

Richt is being announced tomorrow at 10am press conference in Miami so it won't be him.

I suspect that the assistants will stick around, but you never know, Smart may want to come in and get started with his new players. I don't know how many coaches will follow Richt, but I am sure Miami wants him to get recruiting ASAP. I am sure there are a few Miami coaches that he will want to keep. How involved will Richt be?

It'll be strange for sure.

Wonder if the negotiations for the job went anything like this...

Smart: "So, what is our real budget and going rate for paying off a 5-star and then for a 4-star player to my alma mater these days? I mean, on the recruiting trail we (Bama) have had a pretty good idea over the years."

Cesspool AD answers with the numbers.

Smart: "Really? Well, that's gotta change or you can forget me coming over here."

Cesspool AD agrees and advises what the going rates were from his days at Florida and advises he assures he's tapped into the money people at Hell to up the ante to Florida and Bama levels of cheati....errr, giving. Yeah, giving. That's it. Giving.

Smart: "OK. We'll need about 10x what has been paid and that's just to assure we compete for the weak SEC East. If you want to compete for the entire SEC - or what is known as Bama - we'll need the going rate to go up by about 20x. Deal?"

Cesspool AD: "Deal. But, we already know that and have been planning for it."

There used to be an old wagerers' rule of thumb that blindly went like this...

...bet on the favorites before Christmas and run with the dogs after Christmas. That formula used to hit about 65% every silly season on the MEG's. Haven't checked it in a while and that formula perhaps has blown up since there are so many MEG's now.

Side note, the Seminoles will be preparing for their Peach MEG at Georgia Tech's practice facilities. Think they will have some bad memories of being around the NATS? ;)

Obscure stats du jour...

10-2 FSU, 23-13
11-2 UNC, 45-37

FWIW, Oklahoma defeated 2 teams who won 10 or more games this season...

11-1 Ohio State, 17-14
12-1 Iowa, 16-13
(note, Michigan State also lost to a 5-7 Nebraska team...though they were hosed by a terrible gutless reversed no-call by the ref at the end...MSU should be undefeated)
