The Tour makes a swing back into ACC Country this week. Hopefully, the course and tournament will be spared from the torrential downpours that turned last week's event in New Orleans into a rain-shortened 3-round event (that finished on Monday). Bryce Molder continued his strong play this season with a top 10 finish at tied for 8th. This moved his FedEx Cup ranking from 75th to a currently-comfortable 62nd. Also, Chesson Hadley, who needs to make a move in the coming months to qualify for next year, finished tied for 20th and jumped from 170th to 158th. Castro and Tringale are just under 100th and could also use some good play like Molder has been sporting to get into a comfortable position qualifying in the top 125 by season-end.

A nice addition to this week's set of GJ's at Charlotte will be Ollie Schniederjans. Matt Kuchar, Stewart Cink and Bryce Molder will be sitting this week's event out. 3 other GJ's will be playing in addition to Ollie: Roberto Castro, Chesson Hadley and Cameron Tringale.

CBS will have live network coverage over the weekend. Weather forecast looks clear for the entire event with temps getting pretty hot on Sunday. Good luck to our Golfing J's this week - especially to Hadley and Ollie.

edit: moved Cink from originally listed in field to now no longer playing in this week's event

Low strokes behind high trees. So the balls don't get lost or found out.

A little Head Basketball Coach humor. Very little.

Bad news indeed. Our prayers go out too, for them.

A lot of sadness lately. Just found out today that Robin Gibb died in 2012. How did I miss that? Barry went out on solo tour last year. Welcome to my cave.

Ollie is finishing up his round as I type this. He carded a couple of bogeys to go along with 7 pars to go out with a +2 for his 1st round. But then, he eagled the par-5 10th hole to get back to even par. He birdied #11 to get red. A bogey on #13 was later followed by a birdie on #16. He is -1 and needs to get up and down from just off the green on #18 to finish that way.

Castro and Hadley also finished -1 today, currently tied for 30th and 6 strokes off the lead. Tringale shot even-par today.

Hadley and Ollie really need to make some noise this weekend in particular.

And...my jinx abilities continue. Ollie bogeys the final hole to finish Even.

OLD MAN

Hopefully I won't jinx these guys, but Hadley is having a very nice 2nd round today and has moved up into contention. Ollie doing well too so far.

Fingers crossed for these 2 guys in particular.

Hadley with a terrific 7 birdie & 1 double bogey round for a -5 for the day today and getting to -6 for the tournament. Sitting alone in 2nd place right now. Could be in the final grouping on Saturday. We'll see.

Great news. A guy who needs to finish well and run up the FEC standings.

Woohoo!

Castro is on fire. Eagles the par 4 18th (his 9th on the day going off the back) from 220 yards out. WOW!

Shoots a 4-under front nine and then birdies #1 (his 10th hole) to start the back. -5 for the day and -6 with Hadley sitting at 2nd place at the moment for the tourney.

Nice!!

Castro and Hadley turn in the best scores today in Round 2. Castro is at -7 and in 2nd place 1 stroke behind the leader. He'll be in the final group Saturday. Hadley is at -6 and tied for 3rd. Tringale also made the cut at -2. Ollie (+2) will miss the cut by one stroke.

Live network TV coverage on Saturday starting at 3pm on CBS.

Tee times for our GJ's Saturday...

11:30am Cameron Tringale paired with Jason Gore (USA, U of Arizona, Pepperdine)

1:30pm (next to last group) Chesson Hadley paired with Mark Hubbard (USA, San Jose State)

1:40pm Roberto Castro paired with Andrew Loupe (USA, LSU)

Ricky Fowler leads at -9. Castro is alone in 2nd at -8 and will be paired with Fowler in the final group on Sunday.

Woohoo! Go Roberto!!

Castro in a playoff on CBS right now. Unfortunately, he put his drive in the drink on the first playoff hole.

Castro finishes 2nd in a playoff. Disappointing for him, but hopefully he walks away with a ton of confidence and strong experience from this week in Charlotte. Hadley finishes tied for 11th which is awesome for him. Tringale finishes tied for 41st. The Tour now moves down the road to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and the Players Championship (sometimes called "the 5th Major").
