The Tour moves to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, for the Player's Championship this week. Unfortunately, Roberto Castro needed the win last week to qualify for this week's event. Stewart Cink is of course on leave from the Tour at the moment with his wife's serious medical condition.

That leaves 4 GJ's who will participate. They are (with FedEx Cup Standings in parenthesis):

  • Chesson Hadley (141)
  • Matt Kuchar (58)
  • Bryce Molder (70)
  • Cameron Tringale (91)
Castro's 2nd place finish last week in Charlotte moved his FEC standing from 97th going into the tournament up to now at #33. Terrific! Hadley's good play at Charlotte bounced his up from #158 to currently #141. Much better. Chesson really needs to keep playing well to get inside the #125 leather.

The weather forecast is very good this week at Sawgrass. Kuchar will be in one of the featured groups in the first 2 rounds playing alongside Ricky Fowler (13th in FECS) and Adam Scott (1st in FECS).

NBC will have live network coverage Saturday and Sunday each day starting at 2pm.

Tee times for our guys...

Thursday
Tringale 7:26am
Hadley 7:59am
Molder 12:52pm*
Kuchar 1:36pm

Friday
Molder 7:37am
Kuchar 8:21am*
Tringale 12:51pm*
Hadley 1:14pm*

A fantastic 1st round for Cameron Tringale, who shot at -7 (65) and currently sits tied for 2nd, 1 shot back to Jason Day, who is finishing up his final hole. Tringale birdied 6 of his first 12 holes with a bogey thrown in. He then posted consecutive birdies on 16 and 17. He dropped his tee shot on the famed island green par-3 17th 3 feet from the pin.

Not so good morning session news however for Chesson Hadley, who posted a +6 (78).

Molder just started his afternoon session round with a birdie on his 2nd hole (#11, starting on the back today). Kooch starts in one of the featured groups today momentarily.

I forgot to add in the OP that the Player's Championship is one of the five (other 4 being the traditional majors) PGA events which provided added bonus points for placing in the FedEx Cup standings. The World Golf Championship events do as well.

Strong 2nd rounds this morning by both Molder (-4 today, -6 for the tourney) and Kuchar (-5 today, -6 for the tourney). They are currently sitting tied for 19th. Tringale is Even thru his first 4 holes today, starting on the back nine.

Tringale continues his strong play at Sawgrass. -3 today thru 11 holes (started on the back). Has 4 birdies and a bogey. -10 for the tourney and tied for 2nd, 1 back at the moment.

Good finish for Kooch at tied for 3rd. Tringale (tied 16th), Molder (tied 12th) and Kooch all did well this week in fact and their jump up in FEC Standings will benefit greatly (with added points being the Player's Championship).

The Tour now heads back to Texas for the next 2 weeks in the Dallas area for the Byron Nelson and then Colonial.

3 GJ's are scheduled this week in Irving for the Byron Nelson.
