The Tour heads out west for 1 week as a strong field preps on the Golf Club of Houston for the Shell Houston Open. This course has been tailored to mimic the greens of Augusta, though never a perfect simulation of course, and because of that has increased the participation from across the globe for those wanting to prep ahead of The Masters the following week.

5 Golfing J's will be participating (with current FedEx Cup Standings):

  • Roberto Castro (95)
  • Stewart Cink (122)
  • Chesson Hadley (174)
  • Bryce Molder (106)
  • Cameron Tringale (72)

No Matt Kuchar (55) this week. Kooch and Larry Mize are still the only Golfing J's qualified/invited to play at Augusta next week. A win this week in Houston would qualify for next week's Masters by any of the 5 Golfing J's.

Tringale made this week's Fantasy power rankings at pgatour.com... http://www.pgatour.com/power-rankings/2016/03/28/shell-houston-open.html

NBC will have live coverage this weekend in Houston.

Tringale birdies his first hole. This, of course, means he is on pace to break a PGA Tour record by shooting 72-under par for the tournament.

Some guys are injured on golf courses falling off the ball washer. Some guys are injured on the golf course for just being dumb. We can only assume this is a Cesspool student or recent alum.

On "top of it all", he was going the wrong way. I didn't see the cart over there.

Talk about a slice. Is that what the skin game is about?

Roberto Castro is killing it today. 7-under thru 16.

Sitting at the top of the leaderboard at the moment. 7 birdies and 8 pars so far.

Awesome!!

Cink and Molder just heading out now. Hadley finished at -1 and Tringale at Even.

Whoa!! Castro has a 7 foot putt for eagle at the 8th (his 17th hole of the day)!

Scratch that - error in the tracker. Make that 7 footer for birdie.

Cink cards a nice -3 opening round today. He will tee off Friday morning. Castro goes off in the afternoon.

2nd round suspended due to darkness with Castro at -8 for the tournament and a birdie putt on #16 when he resumes play at 8:30amET Saturday morning. Barring a collapse on the last 3 holes, he will be in one of the final groups in Round 3. Appears all 5 GJ's will make the cut...but, the other 4 barely.

Castro just pulled into a tie for the lead at -11. Starting to get more TV coverage.

Getting a sandy to save par on the par 3 14th. Geez, I would love it if Roberto could win and cash a ticket to Augusta next week.

Castro bogeys 2 of the last 3 holes including a 3-putt on #18 to finish at -9 today and alone in 6th place. Though, just 2 shots off the lead. He tees off in the second to last group Sunday at 1:27pmET.
