The Tour stays in Florida for the 3rd of 3 weeks before moving on to Memphis, then 2 weeks in Tejas, before The Masters. Last week at the WGC at Doral, Matt Kuchar was Tech's only participant as he finished tied for 28th.

This week at Palm Harbor there will be 6 GJ's competing. They include (with current FedEx Cup Standings in parenthesis):

  • Roberto Castro (80)
  • Stewart Cink (100)
  • Chesson Hadley (160)
  • Matt Kuchar (84)
  • Bryce Molder (109)
  • Cameron Tringale (60)

NBC will have live coverage this Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Here's hoping one or more of the Golfing J's will be in contention come Sunday. 5 of the 6 playing this weekend are currently within the leather of the 125 auto qualifying via their FedEx Standings, though there is obviously a long way to go this season. Hadley needs some good finishes in particular.

Note, currently only Matt Kuchar and Larry Mize are invited to The Masters.

Crazy start to Cink's round so far. Bogey, Eagle, Bogey in first 3 holes.

...and then Cink triple bogeys the par 3 13th hole (his 4th hole as he started on the back nine).

Wow!

...and now a birdie on the par 5 14th holes (his 5th hole). What a wacky round to be +2...

Bogey, Eagle, Bogey, Triple Bogey, Birdie

Chesson Hadley off to a great start today in Round 1. -3 thru 9 and sitting pretty for a birdie on #1 as I type this (his 10th hole as he started off the back this afternoon).

Kooch having a solid round so far today and playing his way into contention. Hadley in the opposite direction unfortunately. Castro and Molder have work to do to make the cut. Just outside looking in at the moment. Same for Cink who tees off at 12:35 this afternoon. Tringale is +11 right now and will have to find other things to do this weekend.

Kooch shot a 3-under 68 on Sunday to finish -1 for the tournament, which was tied for 11th. He moved up 27 spots from 84 to 57 in the FEC Standings.
