The Tour moves from Phoenix up the California coast to Monterey Bay to the annual Pebble Beach Pro-Am this week. 6 Golfing J's will participate:

  • Roberto Castro
  • Stewart Cink
  • David Duval
  • Chesson Hadley
  • Bryce Molder
  • Nick Thompson
Molder is off to a fantastic start to 2016 coming off a T10 finish last week at Phoenix. His play has been noticed as he is a part of this week's top 15 power rankings heading into PBPA... http://www.pgatour.com/power-rankings/2016/02/08/at-t-pebble-beach-pro-am.html

Bryce moved from 117th up to 70th in the FedEx Cup standings with his finish last week. Cameron Tringale (not playing this week) is the highest GJ in the FEC standings currently at 36th. Matt Kuchar (also not playing this week) is currently at 113.

This week is particularly important for Nick Thompson, who has limited opportunities this season on the Tour to make strides for his future qualifications and status.

This weekend's TV live network coverage will be on CBS (3-6pmET Sat & 3-6:30pmET Sun).

Tee times posted via reply once available.

Chesson Hadley is a fantasy sleeper pick this week... http://www.pgatour.com/sleeper-picks/2016/02/09/att-pebble-beach-pro-am.html

An interesting snippet about him as well (copied & pasted):

Chesson Hadley … Pebble Beach has served both as a site of his repeated success and renewal. After taking solo second at the annual (and unofficial) Pebble Beach Invitational in November of 2013, the then-PGA TOUR rookie extended a skid to 0-for-5 into January of 2014. The week of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in early February, he then confessed the following on Twitter: “New attitude coming out on the golf course today. I have been arrogant and lost that sense of thankfulness just to be out here... From now on I am just thankful to be on the PGA Tour. I don't deserve to be here but God has blessed me with this amazing opportunity... Humble confidence is what I am going to try and demonstrate from now on.” In direct response, he tied for 10th, and then broke through for victory in Puerto Rico a month later. In his return to the Monterey Peninsula last year, he again finished T10. With zero top-35 finishes since last May, the 28-year-old strides into this week with the positive experience that can contribute to snapping out of his slump.

Cink & Castro paired together teeing off Thursday at 12:39pmET.

Molder's amateur partner this week is You. Interesting. I wonder if You is singular or plural? Far too many Bud Lights will drive you to useless anecdotes like these.

Cink's amateur partner is Dorman and Castro's is Moorman. Now, that begs the question is Dorman a Door Man and is Moorman a Morman? If so, I feel sorry for Castro.

You is first?
Did you say something about Castro Oil in the S(C)ink? Hope it went down good.
Morman drinks milk between rounds or does he Te(a)e off?

Or was it Castra Oil, yuk? Must have blacked out the name of it all these years. Probably tasted worse than Castro Motor Oil.

Castro fires a 6-under 66 today and is tied for 5th. Feel really bad for Nick Thompson. He got off to such a great start. Was 4-under thru his first 8 holes. Bogeyed his 9th (started on the back nine today). Made the turn though at a solid 3-under. Parred each of the first 6 holes on his back nine before going bogey, double bogey, and bogey in his final 3 holes to go from -4 to finish at +1. Ugh.

Hadley (-3) and Cink (-2) are in pretty good shape. Molder and Duval - each even par - have some work to do. Still early of course. And, with the first 3 days spread across 3 different courses, it is difficult to determine who is in better shape than others.

Side note, stech81's long-winded difficult-to-complete letters to the head coach inspired me to write this lengthy note to that bag of douche rodent up in Pennsylvania (and I'm not talking about my son...this time)...here goes...

Dear Phil,

Eat me!

For my tastes, he is the maistro of all sports. Throw in the Ga. Tech flavor, the ability to "tell it like it is", an extensive journalistic approach with a keen awareness to research all of his dishes before serving those wonderful entrees...and bringing out the dessert at the perfect time, you have some kind of presentation for a complete meal. I give you Chef JT622!

About 20 years now?

Stech81 has a slightly different hilarious sense of humor, same league, wonderful chap, football maven, in his fourth decade with season tickets consecutively and journeyman internet poaster.

Hadley inching his way today closer to the top 60 to keep playing Sunday.

Castro birdies his final 3 holes as well as shoots 4-under on the back nine today to finish -4 for the round and now sits at -12 for the tournament and tied for 3rd at the moment (1 shot back...though the leaders have a bunch of holes left). Regardless of where they finish, looks like Roberto will be in one of the final groups tomorrow and in striking distance of winning. Looking forward to watching some of the action tomorrow on TV.
