Matt Kuchar will participate in the World Golf Championships Match Play event in Austin, Tejas. 64 qualified golfers will begin on Wednesday. Here's the format... http://www.worldgolfchampionships.c...olf-championships-dell-match-play-format.html Matt has been drawn into a pool including Justin Rose (England), Anirban Lahiri (India), and Fabian Gomez (Argentina).

While that is going on, there will be two Golfing J's participating in the Puerto Rico Open. They are Chesson Hadley (who won this event 2 years ago) and Bryce Molder. Play starts Thursday.

Will provide links to live stats and leaderboard once available for each.

Tee times for the Dell Match Play WGC...

Wednesday: Kuchar vs Lahiri 4:10pmET (last pairing of the day)
Thursday: Kuchar vs Gomez 2:50pmET
Friday: Kuchar vs Rose 12:40pmET

Looks like the weather is going to be very nice for our friend Texwood, Kooch, and others at the tournament. Keep Austin Weird!

Kooch wins in dominant fashion, 6 &5.

1-0.

Justin Rose is close to finishing off Fabian Gomez, 2 up thru 15. Kooch faces Gomez on Thursday teeing off at 2:50pmET.

You know the difference between Justin and Jaylen Rose?
One is a white rose who wants to be wearing green, the other is a black rose wanting deep down to be a white one.

Hadley off to a great start. -3 thru 6 holes. Molder also in the red at -1 thru 8.

Hadley won this event 2 years ago so he should feel some confidence here.

Day 2 update from Tejas...

...Kooch up 2 thru 8 holes vs Gomez.

Kooch wins #16. All Square thru 16. Let's go KOOOOOOOCH!!

Kooch loses #18 and the match is halved. Kooch faces Justin Rose on Friday. Rose also halved his match today so both guys are 1-0-1 thru 2 matches.

Will be there with the family tomorrow yelling Koooooch!! My daughter has her heart set on following Spieth around but he tees off 3+ hours after Kooch so I'm in luck. Weather will be perfect and the wind will finally die down so we should see some great stuff tomorrow.

Kooch's scenario is win and he advances. Halve today's match against Rose and they go to a playoff. Losing that 18th hole yesterday after a marvelous comeback to take the lead after 17 cost Kooch the win and opportunity to advance with a halve today. Tee time is 12:40pmET.

GROUP 7

8. Justin Rose, England vs. 30. Matt Kuchar, USA, 11:40 a.m.
50. Anirban Lahiri, India vs. 59. Fabian Gomez, Argentina, 11:50 a.m.

Standings
Rose 1-0-1
Kuchar 1-0-1
Lahiri 0-1-1
Gomez 0-1-1

Scenarios: The Rose-Kuchar winner will advance. A halve will force a playoff. Lahiri and Gomez have been eliminated.

Kooch leads 1 up thru 9.

In Puerto Rico, Molder is -1 for the day thru 12 holes and is -3 for the tournament (tied for 31st at the moment and 7 strokes off the lead). The current projected cut as I type this at 2:45 is Even par or better. Hadley is +2 today thru 8 holes and -1 for the tournament. Both Molder and Hadley started on the back nine this afternoon.

Kooch wins 3 & 2. Woohoo!

Will post an update on next steps. I believe the 16 group winners advance to Round of 16 matches Saturday morning and then those 8 winners move on to quarterfinals in Saturday afternoon matches.

Semifinals Sunday morning and Championship Sunday afternoon. Will confirm.

Hope Texwood and his lil' princess had a great day. Look forward to his inputs.

Kooch will face American Brooks Koepka on Saturday morning. Tee time TBA.

In Puerto Rico, Hadley has been cut. Molder is -4 and tied for 21st, 5 strokes back. Bryce will tee off at 10:57am Saturday morning.

In Austin, the Golf Channel will have match play coverage of Saturday's "Sweet 16" matches from 10am to 2pm, then NBC will cover the matches in the afternoon from 2 to 6pm.

Kooch wins #16. All square with 2 holes left. Go Kooooooooooooch!!

Both guys birdie the final hole. Kooch is eliminated.

Molder having a rough day in Puerto Rico. Of course, there is no such thing as a rough day in Puerto Rico. ;)

Had a great time at the Dell Match Play Tournament yesterday. It's a gorgeous course and the weather was picture perfect. Followed Kooch on the front nine where he was landing everything with precision, which is what that course demands. We had many opportunities to let out a booming 'Kooooch'! Great experience!!

My Daughter saw Spieth in the putting area as we were heading to the back nine and that ended our participation in the Kuchar gallery. Spieth played really solid golf on Friday as well but during his warm up session on the range he was having an issue with his driver, pushing it out to the right. Despite that, he only had one errant drive on Friday (to the right). Today, that miss was his undoing with both driver and irons. Hopefully, he gets that figured out in time for Augusta.

This is the first time my daughter has ever been to a PGA event. She's 14 and her golf game has advanced to a level where she can fully appreciate how crazy good these guys are. There were many occasions where she was in utter disbelief that some approach shots were even attempted - much less executed. Unlike TV, actually being there allowed her to imagine how she would play a shot and contrast that with what these guys were doing. It was an eye opening experience for her and she left in a state of awe. It was an awesome day!

Thanks for the report, mate. You do have to watch them in person to truly grasp just how good these guys are...and, with those thousands if eyes on them in the gallery as well. Pretty amazing stuff.
