Tech travels up I-85 to the South Carolina Upstate for the weekend at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls. The 3-day 12-team event starts Friday morning (though Mother Nature may have something to say about all that...70% chance t'storms in Salem, SC).

Friday Tech is paired with Furman and UNC-Greensboro as the first teams off at 9:10am... http://golfstatresults.com/public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=pairings&tid=9836

Note, the ACC Tournament (aka Georgia Tech Invitational) is on the horizon...just 3 weeks away...April 22-24. Tech will certainly have its work cut out to defend the title yet again this year with such a young team.

It's very strange seeing Tech ranked outside the top 15...and even more strange seeing us outside the top 30.

Tech finishes Round 1 at even par. The hosts, Clemson, are 8-under in the lead as I type this. Louisville finished at -3. Not bad. Clemson, UofL and Tech all had 5th golfers whose score was not included of course who had really bad days.

Tech is hanging in there in Round 2 so far today playing side by side with the Kitty Cats and Cards. Petefish is struggling mightily though. He carded a 76 (+4) yesterday and is already +4 for his round today thru his first 6 holes. Otherwise, the other 4 young'uns in white, navy and gold are holding their own.

Our young men are fighting their way back into this thing. Great to see.

Keep it up, GJ's!!

Tech's #1, Vince Whaley, cards a 5-under 67 today to take the lead by 2 strokes in the individual medalist leaderboard. Jackets pick up 3 strokes on leader, Clemson, but remains 9 strokes back heading into Sunday's final round while in 2nd place. Not bad. A strong Sunday could give these young guys some confidence. Clemson is at "home" this weekend and is one of the favorites to win the Georgia Tech Invitational (aka ACC Tournament).
