D. Moore: "We ain't dead, yet"!

We need all three that are left.
I picked us to lose by 6, and we did. Wish I had been wrong this week!

At least our offense dressed up for Halloween, they looked like football players. Minus the cleats, because with the skilled guys slipping and the line diving on the ground-we might as well have been wearing slippers.

Hearing Jabari was serving a two game team suspension. Like the team, his once promising season is "slipping" away.

The only P5 team with a non-losing conference record over the previous 20 years, is over with.

I have recovered yet another depressing walk back to the UHall parking lot. I'd like to thank the Anhuiser Busch Corporation for their medicinal support in my recovery last evening.

On a positive note (because the negative is just so painfully obvious)...

1. What a game by Clinton Lynch! The final TD catch in the corner of the endzone was on the other end of the field but from the jumbotron, it appeared to be one of the best catches I've seen by a Tech player in a very long time.

2. Didn't get to see the game, but read the news that the Cesspool scored just 3 pts and started some guy at QB who I've never heard of. We have a shot to beat them this year on Grant Field. Hopefully some of our walking wounded will be back in time.

3. Speaking of, glad this team has a bye week. They need it badly. Wasn't surprised at all about the performance yesterday. We have this tendency of turning the ball over and stinking up SSS. Just another chapter this year. Virginia is better than folks think and I knew they'd be ready. We are not even in the top half of teams they've played this season in terms of strength of opponent. Glad our next game is at home. And 2 of the last 3.

Well, that's about all I have. Bring on basketball season! Go Volleybees today at BC!

We may as well face the fact that it will be very tough to break even this season. But that doesn`t mean the program is sinking. The necessity of playing so many freshmen before they are really ready to be starters is killing.

Looking ahead however, I`m guessing the recruiting done these last couple of years (and hopefully continuing) will give us reasonable talent and DEPTH in ALL positions. The virtual absence of returning running backs and WRs has obviously killed the offense. But I`m at a loss to see why our OL has been so inept. Shaq was great, but one out of five missing couldn`t be the only excuse.

I don`t know if we can blame youth and inexperience as the only reasons for the defense`s ineptitude. Adam Gotsis DOES make a difference, but there shouldn`t be a complete collapse, as we saw yesterday and against UNC, in his absence, I am on record as not being happy with the defense`s schemes nor fundamental play. But on occasion they have done okay - such as last week. Hopefully it will improve on a consistent level.

But life goes on, and I do think CPJ will fix the problems. He will see I`m sure, that the talent will be improved and WILL be unified to play at a high level with consistency. I will be there to see it, God willing.

Just got word from one of my associates, Giuseppe, that Open Date has opened as 5 1/2 pt favorites this upcoming Saturday at Grant Field.

Not only is gap protection on passing plays a big problem(our OL blocking while only sending two receivers out), the GT Defense has given up over 200 yards rushing 5 times already this season. We have to go back to the year 2000 to find that many times we could not stop the run.

First lets list the things that as a football team we do well.
1) We are pretty good at the coin toss.
2) Ok I'm out of things need some help

3)On pass plays(instead of the mesh)the BBack stays back up to max. protect. Of course blocking a defender would be nice occassionly so our QB wouldn't have been diagnosed with PTSD.
4)HB usually kicks off high or out of the end zone. He can also make the clutch FG.
5)I'm out. Next man up....help us!

6) We are really good at the roll out and run for your life pass play where we throw it out of bounds. Consistency!
7) We haven't missed any extra point kicks this year. That's a positive. Every point helps. Of course, we aren't kicking nearly as many this year.
8) That's all I can muster at the moment.

9) We won halloween. Those uniforms had me fooled into thinking there were actual football players out there.

10) We are on a streak of 1 in recovering our onsides kicks. (Btw, what the hell were the French thinking on that?)
