Great to send our seniors out with a win in their last home game and we have to be happy to win and want to play better this week especially offensively. Defensively we played well in the second half, need to play better in both halves to beat a good UGA team.
ON RETURN GAME
I think that to be succesful and have a chance you have to be plus in the turnover margin and in the return game.
ON THE RIVALRY
It is a game between two state schools that have been a rivalry for a long time and both the fans and the players want to win. They played against each other in HS, like what most schools have, the equivalents play each other, NC State-UNC or Auburn-Alabama, the two state schools want to win.
ON PLANTING THE FLAG
It doesn't bother me more than us tearing up their hedges there. The first time in 2008, I told our guys not to take the hedges, expect to win the next time you go, but that is kids. They want signs and flags and our kids want to do that too.
ON RIVALRY AS A KID
Everyone
I played was a rivalry and that was how I was when I was playing. I didn't like anyone I played.
ON ACC VS SEC, ACC WAS 7-1 IN LAST
We are probably the only underdog this year, Clemson and Louisville are 3 touchdown favorites, FSU is a little less and we are what we are. The ACC doesn't have to take a backseat to anyone in football.
ON DEFENSIVELY STOPPING THE RUN THE GAME PLAN
I wouldn't tell you the game plan, against anyone you want to limit the run. Isaiah McKenzie is the guy who scares me, he is the X-factor in the kick return, pass or counter, he can take it the difference. You can't concentrate on one or two players, if you count recruiting rankings they got a ton of good ones.
ON JAHAZIEL
Yes he will play
ON KIRBY SMART
I remember when I was at GaSouthern, I interviewed him for a job and he ended up at Valdosta State, I don't think I had an opening. I spent time with him at the Chick fil A golf tournament and a nice guy, no different than any other coach. You tend to get along and I don't think fans understand that, you speak to guys and can stand them. I have an appreciation for what he goes through. I think I hired Brian Bohanaon then, both their dad's were HS coaches in GA.
ON J.J. GREEN
You have to keep an eye on J.J. Green, but not anymore than anything else.
ON THE UGA DEFENSE
They've got 8-9 DLs they roll who are all 4-5 star guys, 6-4, 300 and good players. Roquan Smith is playing good at LB and the guys in the secondary have been playing for 2-3 years, I would venture without looking at the numbers they have to be pretty good, they are much better than they were in the first part of the year especially.
ON ACC PLAY THIS YEAR
Disappointed in how we played, we played horrendously against Clemson in the first half, we gift wrapped the Miami game with the two turnovers, Pitt we lose by three on tipped ball. UNC got away from us, but we had a hard time stopping us. I'm sure the teams that played us could go the same way. Anytime you are not winning the division you are disappointed.
ON 2014 WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER
I remember the terrible call on the goal line when the refs didn't call it. That was a 14-point swing, the kick and the picks. That play should've been blown dead.
I didn't get an apology, best you can hope for is we got it wrong.
ON MILLS BEING BACK
It gives us more depth and it is good to have him back and he is a good player.
ON THE GASOUTHERN-BAMA A FEW YEARS AGO
I've watched it.
ON THIS SEASON OVERALL
It is a grind, but it always a grind, you want to win every game, is that realistic, I don't know, but I'm disappointed some. When the season is over and after our bowl that is when I reflect through the season. You could end up being really good or dead average
ON JUSTIN
We are used to him playing better, he got better as the game goes on, he did enough to help us win the game and he had another pass that would've been a long play for TD. When you play at his level, he wasn't happy with it and knows he can play better.
ON THE THREE FROSH OLS
I think they will be good players and they are as athletic as anyone we've had in a long time. Dedrick Mills will be good and Jalen Camp is really good and some we've redshirted that will be good, that will turn out to be a good class for GT.
ON RYAN RODWELL
He has done better. The ball rolling a long way helps, he has done better.
