Didn't really have a pic and a whole of info to do a full story, so here's a little bit on the "1984 season." I wasn't alive yet, but you older guys can tell me more about it in this thread. Sounds to me like it was the most Georgia Tech season there ever was. Great start, high hopes, crash down to Earth in the middle, finish strong with big wins.
In the 1984 season, Bill Curry's fifth in charge on The Flats, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets started the season 3-0 with wins over No. 19 Alabama (16-6), The Citadel (48-3) and No 13 Clemson (28-21).
Those wins pushed Tech up to No. 12 in the AP Poll, but the tough times in the middle of the schedule followed as the Jackets then lost to NC State (27-22), tied Virginia (20-20), lost to Auburn (48-34) and lost to Tennessee (24-21).
After splitting the next two games, a win over Duke (31-3) and a loss at UNC (24-17), Tech closed out the schedule impressively with a strong showing in a win at Wake Forest (24-7) and a big-time victory in Athens for Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate over Jawja (35-18).
Georgia Tech finished 6-4-1 that season. Notable players from that team included Ken Whisenhunt (TE), John Dewberry (QB), Pat Swilling (LB) and Ted Roof (LB).
