THE FLATS – Georgia Tech football offensive tackle Devin Cochran(Norcross, Ga./Greater Atlanta Christian) has accepted an invitation to the 2022 East-West Shrine Bowl, which will be played on Feb. 3 at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders. The game will kick off at 8 p.m. EST and be broadcast live on NFL Network.
Cochran becomes the first Yellow Jacket to participate in the Shrine Bowl since Jamal Golden and D.J. White in 2015. An honorable mention all-ACC selection, Cochran started all 12 games at left tackle for the Yellow Jackets, anchoring an offensive line that paved the way for running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and Dontae Smith to also earn all-conference honors from Pro Football Focus.
The offensive line allowed four Yellow Jackets to rush for 300 yards on the year, led by Gibbs’ 746. Jordan Mason also worked for 439 rushing yards and a touchdown on the year, while Smith finished with 378 rushing yards and four touchdowns. In total, Georgia Tech’s ground game amassed 2,028 yards and 15 touchdowns on the year, while the offensive line also protected quarterbacks Jeff Sims and Jordan Yates to record 2,380 passing yards and 18 touchdowns.
