12:00 (ABC) #2 Florida State [2-0] at #10 Louisville [2-0]
Easily the game of the week in the ACC and one of the best in the nation. These 2 programs have met 16 times and the Noles lead 14-2 all-time, including 2-0 since the Cardinals joined the conference.

12:00 (ESPN) #25 Miami [2-0] at Appalachian State
This will be an intriguing game as the Fighting Spray Tan Boys travel to a high altitude for a rare game where a Sun Belt team hosts a P5 program. Appy State is pretty darn good and an upset here won’t surprise at all. As FYI, Miami opens as 5-pt favorites. This is the first meeting between the 2 programs.

12:00 (RSN) South Carolina State [0-2] at #3 Clemson [2-0]
Not much needs to be typed about this scrimmage.

12:30 (ACC Network) Vanderbilt [1-1] at Georgia Tech [2-0]
This game has already been previewed in a separate thread.

1:30 (ESPN-3) Virginia [0-2] at Connecticut [1-1]
UConn is coming off a close road loss at Navy, while Virginia scored 2 late TD’s after going down 44-13 to make the final score look better than it was out at Oregon this past weekend. These 2 have met twice with each winning on their home fields…though UConn’s win over UVA in 2008 was by 35 pts, 45-10.

3:30 (ESPN-U) Boston College [1-1] at Virginia Tech [1-1]
The Hokies try to bounce back after giving the ball and game away to Tennessee at Bristol. Might it be tough to get up for this game after playing in front of 155K? BC plays its 3rd of first 3 away from home. The Hokies are 16-8 against BC all-time. BC has won 2 of the last 3 in the series, including its last trip to Blacksburg in ’14 (33-31).

3:30 (ESPN) Pittsburgh [2-0] at Oklahoma State [1-1]
Two teams coming in off very emotional games this past Saturday. Pitt defeated their arch-rival in a game that has featured plenty of talk between the 2 teams and their head coaches. Oklahoma State of course comes in off a very controversial loss at the end. Pitt will crack the top 25 with a win at Stillwater. This will be the first meeting between the 2 programs.

3:30 (RSN) James Madison [2-0] at Cheaters [1-1]
The Cheaters finally make it home to Chapel Hell after playing 2 P5 teams away from home to start the season. JMU has crushed inferior opponents at home in its first two. This might stay close for the first quarter. Then again, maybe it won’t. Depends on if the Cheaters take this good D1AA program for real or not. GO DUKES!

3:30 (ACC Network Extra) South Florida [2-0] at Syracuse [1-1]
The USF Bulls have feasted on Towson and Northern Illinois at home by 30+ in each game. Cuse is coming off a shellacking at home to top 10, Louisville. USF is 7-2 over Syracuse all-time including a 45-24 win at home last year. The Orange are getting 12.5 pts at home.

6:00 (ACC Network Extra) Old Dominion [1-1] at NC State [1-1]
The Pack comes in after losing late at rival, ECU. ODU really smells. The Pack are 2-0 over ODU have won each of the last 2 seasons.

6:30 (ACC Network Extra) Delaware [2-0] at Wake Forest [2-0]
Watch out, Deacs! A dangerous Blue Hens team arrives as you celebrate a big ACC win at Duke. If the Deacs come into this game over-confident, they will be shocked.

8:00 (Big Ten Network) Duke [1-1] at Northwestern [0-2]
Two teams off to tough starts. Just the opposite of when they met a year ago in Durham, a 19-10 NU win. The Wildcats have lost to the MAC’s Western Michigan by 1 and followed that up with a 2 pt loss at home versus D1AA Illinois State. Northwestern leads the all-time series, 9-8, having won 9 of the last 11 going back 20 years.

And a few others…

3:30 (CBS) #1 Alabama [2-0] at #17 Ole Miss [1-1]
Ole Miss blew a huge lead against FSU in their opener before blowing out Wofford at home in Week 2. Bama is just on a different level than everyone else right now. Playing in Oxford though, this game draws some interest. Can Ole Miss stay within 2 TD’s of Bama? Bama leads the all-time series, 51-10-2…though, the Rebs enter this game having won the last 2 over the Tide…the only team to beat them a year ago.

7:30 (NBC) #12 Michigan State [1-0] at #18 Notre Dame [1-1]
The Spartans opened with a win on Friday of Labor Day weekend and did not play in Week 2. Notre Dame got back on track with a relatively easy win over Nevada after their exciting loss at Texas in their opener. This game potentially has huge playoff implications for both teams. These 2 have met 77 times with the Irish holding a lead, 48-28-1. They took the last 2 seasons off. ND has won 3 in a row and 4 of the last 5.

7:30 (FOX) #3 Ohio State [2-0] at #14 Oklahoma [1-1]
Talk about a game with huge playoff implications. The Sooners could be knocked out after Week 3 if they don’t get it done at home against Urban Meyer’s guys. These 2 have met twice on the gridiron having split the games…the last was a 24-14 OSU win back in ’83. In a rare event, the Sooners will be getting points at home as they are currently a field goal underdog.

A few good games this week.

I was expecting Pitt to beat OSU, but after that loss, OSU will probably be more focused. I wonder what the line is for that game now.

Not to sure anyone will be Undefeated this year. Could cause a problem picking which 3 teams get in the playoff. Yes I know it's 4 but we all know one will be from the SEC.

Random nugget...

...Virginia has now lost 16 straight road games. The last time they won away from Charlottesville was Nov. 3, 2012, at NC State 33-6. Man, NC State sucks.

A few weather-forecasting tidbits...

  • FSU-UofL looks like will be playing in rain. T'storms forecasted for almost all day Saturday.
  • Vandy-GT same thing...potential rain, though not currently as likely as in Louisville.
  • 25% chance of rain at Stillwater for Pitt-OkieSt
  • 70% chance of storms for beginning of Bama-Miss
All other games look to be in decent-to-great shape. Still 5 days away of course so things likely change.
