I find it kind of odd that 2 of the 3 most southern A.C.C. teams - geographically speaking - are playing one another in the first conference weekend series. You'd think either or both would be hosting teams from up north like Notre Dame or Pitt. But, the schedule-makers perhaps caught a break as record warmth exists up "north" for this time of year and the snow pack has been far less this year than normal.

I assume Jonathan King will be back in the starting #2 role Saturday. We should get a preview from Tally or G.T. later today or tomorrow to confirm. Getting 1 win in Tally would be OK. Getting 2 wins and the series would be very nice. Sweeping would be incredible. I said earlier this week I would be pleased with a 2-2 week. With the win over Auburn already in the books this week, getting 1 win in Tally and avoiding being swept will be pleasing and get that series in the rear view mirror right out of the gates.

All 3 games in Tally will be streamed live via ESPN-3...

Friday 6pm
Saturday 6pm
Sunday 1pm

As FYI, other A.C.C. series in this first weekend of the season for the conference schedule to keep an eye on...

Pittsburgh at North Carolina
Miami at Virginia Tech
Virginia at Duke
Boston College at NC State
Notre Dame at Louisville
Clemson at Wake Forest

3 wins would be outstanding, wow a sweep
2 will be great, winning a series on the road in Tally is hard to do.
1 win would be disappointing, but not something to be upset over.
0 wins is unacceptable, is that too harsh?

Well, down 7-2 at the 7th inning stretch. Gold gave up too many dingers tonight.

Might we be seeing the last 2 innings of the Danny Hall era? I believe we established that he has to go 69-0 this season or he's fired.

JJ's up 4-0 in the top of the 4th. Missed that they moved the game up to a 2pm start (assume due to pending weather). Glad I found it on ESPN-3 now.

Dammit. More long ball for the Noles. Parr enters in the btm of the 5th, gives us a lead off single and then a bomb to left-center. 5-2 Jackets. Ugh.

Crap. A simple bunt turns into a throwing error by Parr and the Noles runner now at 3B with no outs. Parr out of the game and replaced by Burton Dulaney who has done great so far this season. Big spot for a freshman.

Hopefully we can enter the 6th up 5-3.

Good grief. Bases loaded, 2 outs, and we throw a routine ground ball to 3B to end the inning over the 1B head and the game is now tied.

Not looking good. Tech has pissed away a 5-0 lead.

And there goes a wild pitch to bring in another run. Tech looking like a bunch of little leaguers right now in the field. Pathetic.

Errors errors and more silly errors. This is sickening.

We'll be lucky - and I stress LUCKY - to get away from Tally with a victory. Friday, the Noles beat us. Today, we are beating us.

Ridiculous.

FRUSTRATION

Lone ray of sunshine other than pounding out 16 hits today and scoring 9 runs...

Zac Ryan looked good in his 4 innings starting today. Everything went to hell after he came out.

His line... 4 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 BB, 1 K, 41 pitches... very effective, very efficient.

Tech gave up 5 unearned runs today. Lost by 5.

Pounded today, 8-3. Left too many men on...pitching spotty. Swept, although a 30 or so game conference schedule leaves opportunity.

Thanks, mate. Nice honor for a great guy. Was thinking more around is he injured? Both JK and Big Country Pitts started out with such promise as freshmen at Tech and injuries have really hurt (npi) their progress. Cole looked as good as I've seen him in a long while down at Auburn last week. Hopefully he can follow up with another solid outing tonight at the Rusty C.
