Aaron Rodgers leads his troops into the Gigantic Melon toni....wait, let's start over...

The Phoenix of Green Bay fly into the Enormous Hooter tonight coming off 2 opening season losses. One in overtime at Stanford and earlier this week in an unusual 6am tipoff at East Tennessee State where they gave up the century mark in a 103-90 loss.

The Phoenix are led by 6'1" Sr. Guard, Carrington Love, who put up 32 vs Stanford and followed with 22 vs ETSU. 6'8" Jr. Forward, Kenneth Lowe, had 23 vs ETSU after scoring only 4 vs Stanford. Stocky 6'4" 220# Jr. Guard, Charles Cooper, has put up double figures in each game with 19 vs Stanford and 10 vs ETSU.

The game will be streamed live via ESPN-3 for those of us who will not be at the Mammoth Boob. Beesball Richard and Jon Babul will again provide the game action via ESPN-3.

The Jackets open as 10.5 pt favorites.

Thank you for the preview!

To make up for the mismatches, Green Bay will probably try to run out more...and they already run. This could get wild. Our posts need to defend and rebound because the guards are going to be challenged.

I like this quote at the end from our leader...

“This is a new year. We don’t worry about the past, can’t do anything about the past,” the coach said. “You need to build on ways to win games, figure out ways to win games, and our team ... figured that out. We got knocked down. We were on the mat, and we responded.”

The Jackets open as 10.5 pt favorites.

I find this hard to believe we are playing a NFL team and are 10.5 point favorites .

The quote about being on the mat, makes me think of how close he was to having the rug pulled out from under his contract.
I really pull for this coach because he might be second only to Coach John Whack Hyder, in speaking of sincerity, kindness and giving of his time to others.

Aaron Rodgers' shoulder is ailing, he was limited in practice yesterday, their new play caller sucks, and they are on a 3-game losing streak. I think Vegas is probably overreacting. Perhaps the upgrade of our defense from consistently mediocre to average has them thinking too highly of us. I predict Rodgers cuts us up like a hot knife through butter.

And with the upgrade of our defense to average word is spreading and there is reason to celebrate, beer for everyone GTJT is buying.

The cheerleaders got the word
th

even in Australia they are celebrating
th

the students at Tech join in

th

and the word is out in Bombay

Nice! You have my credit card so when you say I'm buying, that is reality.

Your pics are OK but mixed up. The one with Tech students needs more Asians. And the one about Bombay actually fits more for the Tech students. Let's get with it and put a little more quality into our picture embedding please.

:p

Good Buddha! 7 for our first 7 from the field and 18 pts before the first timeout. WOW!

Love seeing this.

One of the best halves of ball - especially offensively - I've seen by a Tech team in quite some time. Nice!

Particularly impressed with Heath and Lammers.

I guess we're not talking about football if the offense looks good. And we call this sport basketball?

Ho hum. Just another boring 30-pt win. This is getting old already.

With tonight's 107-77 victory, the Jackets up the ppg scoring average to 97.3. Put up anything less than 98 pts against ETSU Sunday and this team is on a downward spiral and some scholarships should be revoked.

;)

-6 guys in double figures
-Lammers with a career high (and these weren't in garbage time) and 2 pts and 1 board from a double-double
-Chuck Mitchell posts his 3rd double-double in as many games
-Tech shoots 42 of 75 for 56% from the field
-Tech shoots 11 of 24 for 46% from outside the arc
-Tech has 23 assists to 12 TO's
-Tech outrebounded the Phoenix by 20 (51-31)
-Tech registered 9 blocked shots

Total domination.

Man oh man, it seems that whenever I have to miss a game it goes this way. The box score looks like a bag full of Halloween candy! Adam Smith, MGH, Quinton & Josh collectively went 9 of 16 from beyond the arc tonight!! Give all four of those guys the green light, I say. Pull the reigns on a couple others - and look out!!

Not a great crowd tonight...looked half-full. I thought we played better on the defensive end.
Lammers didn't look as stiff, more mobile and aggressive.

Win the next three games and we get a top 25 ranking?

If we win next 3 that means we have a super-quality win over likely Villanova in Brooklyn. So yes, we will get some votes given that scenario but likely have more to prove. Of course, I still have us pegged at 5-1 after our trip to Brooklyn next week and even if we somehow do open 6-0 (I hope so) I think this team should and will stay grounded. They haven't won diddly and that includes the transfers who came from meddling programs.

Great to see the start. Disappointing crowd indeed. I expect Sunday will be as bad or perhaps worse. But to the team's credit they created their own momentum without the crowd. Brooklyn will tell us a lot.

Love the energy and the 3 point shooting. GT couldn't do that against chairs last year.

At one point they were 10 for 18, 55% They finished off a little, but those were not starters.

Rebounding looked better, but we need to see that against teams like Tennessee.

More positives than negatives. Go Jackets Go!
