The Jackets return home from a successful road win for the first time since a season ago when they defeated Miami on the road by 20 points. Tech's return home saw us lose in overtime by 1 point to NC State on a devastating shot at the buzzer by the Pack who went the length of the floor and took one deep.
Tech, yet again, has another chance to win back-to-back A.C.C. regular season games. Under CBG, following a regular season A.C.C. win, Tech is 2-19.
The Irish defeated the Jackets in South Bend back in early January by 8 points. Tech cut the Irish lead to 3 points (64-61) on an Adam Smith 3-pointer with 3:24 left in the game, but the Well Endowed Scholars could not get any closer the rest of the way. ND postman, Zach Auguste, went 10 of 13 from the field - including several wide open layups that Tech must prepare better to avoid allowing - scoring 24 points while Naismith Award finalist, Demetrius Jackson, went 13 of 14 from the charity stripe to finish with 18 points in their win. The Irish had an unusually cold night from outside the arc at home going 2 of 15 (13%). That's an anomaly. Tech still must defend the perimeter closely as the Irish can be lights out good if they get hot out from deep.
ND has had the week off to freshen the legs. When the point spreads are released Friday afternoon, Tech should open as around 1 to 2 point underdogs.

Announcers for the prime time ESPN-2 matchup will be Allen Bestwick (p-b-p) and former Irish great LaPhonso Ellis (analyst).
In today's (Thu., Feb. 18) updated Joe Lunardi Bracketology projections... http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology/_/iteration/233 the Irish are forecast to be a 5-seed when dancing in March commences. They have a strong RPI at 20 and RPI SOS is rated at 15th.
This is the first of 3 straight A.C.C. road games (all very winnable as they travel to Wake and FSU after G.T.) for Notre Dame. The Irish have won 4 of their last 5 including wins in their last 3 over the Cheaters, at Clemson, and home over the Escort Service Academy.
Note, I project the Irish to finish 2nd in the A.C.C. regular season, but that considers this game Saturday as a W for them. Can the BasketJackets get a back-to-back A.C.C. win for a change? We shall see. Hopefully, the guys can build on the outstanding effort and play they exhibited in Tallahassee Wednesday evening. Would be fun - and the time is perfectly right - to see these guys get on a late season roll heading into postseason.
