Cornell game notes: http://www.cornellbigred.com/documents/2015/11/10/01_GATech_MBKBNotes.pdf
This says Beesball Richard and Jon Babul will have the call via ESPN-3 tomorrow night for those of us following along from home.
The last time we faced an Ivy League team was against this same Cornell Big Red bunch back during our national championship runner-up season of '03-'04. Our guys traveled to Cornell in Game 3 of that season and won, 90-69, on a Sunday afternoon, Nov. 20, 2003.
In particular, I am looking for:
1. Improvement in Jorgenson's shot (technique for now...not so concerned about whether he makes at the moment).
2. Jackson's shot selection and IQ offensively.
3. Will we run off defensive boards as has been hyped in preseason?
4. How the halfcourt offense looks with Smith in the rotation - this is the biggest of them all to me...if we see the SOS of passing around the perimeter until the new 30-second clock gets down to about 5 seconds and force a shot, then this is a bad sign early on.
5. Has Lammers bulked up and can he use his body effectively? He and Ogbonda should get some PT if we can get a nice lead.
6. Will White be an immediate pump of adrenaline off the bench? He should be.
7. Will the student body show (hopefully giddy off a FB win tonight) and provide some needed support for these guys? I hope so.
Regarding #3 and #4 above, I really hope we see some more open offense and running the floor as has been hyped. Then again, I stand by #4 being most important because once you get into the ACC battles and certainly any tournament time, it normally boils down to how effective you are in halfcourt sets most of the time. Certainly, doing well at #3 can and should help recruiting, bring more fannies into seats with a more up-tempo style of play, etc. Plus, for what has been a clogged toilet for much of the past decade, getting some easy points running breaks effectively will be welcomed.
