So it looks like MBob dropped the ball on this one and Bryce Drew is getting paid. A few days ago Jeff Capel would've accepted the GT job, but MBob wanted Drew so they waited, pissed off Capel and he pulled his name when Drew reached terms with GT, nothing signed yet... Drew started formulating his plan for GT, in the meantime Vandy struck out on their two splash hires, Gregg Marshall and Kevin Ollie and circled the wagons to Drew who isn't a hugely popular choice among their fan base.
GT is still trying to work something out with Drew, but I think the ship may have sailed on MBob.
Can he grovel and get Capel interested again? Not sure, but will cost more.
The names left are hardly exciting. Pat Kelsey has some pedigree but winning in the Big South and having coached for some good guys, Chris Mack at Xavier and Skip Prossor at Wake.
The search firm may push LeVelle Moton (NC Central) to interview, he got his team in the big dance two years ago and NIT last year, this year was a bad season and another big jump...
Mark Price is sitting there and Jay Larranaga sadly becomes more interesting. Matt McCall at Chattanooga, all depressing options if you are a GT fan.
Will Wade now has a bigger buyout and probably wouldn't take the call. Kevin Keatts still has a ton of baggage unsettled from Louisville and the rest of GT's targets are locked in at their jobs.
