I like this quote (from Tadric)...

PUSH THE BALL: Gregory is looking for players to push the ball as soon as they make a defensive rebound. That means push it immediately instead of first looking to get the ball to the point guard. “Now it’s score, score, score instead of a structured, robotic offense,” Jackson said. A deep bench should help players keep an aggressive edge. “I think that depth is something we’re going to have to utilize, and one of the ways to do it is to play a little faster, and I want our guys to do that,” Gregory said.

It seems like CBG has enough pieces to build a potential bubble type team this season. What's impossible to know at this point is how well he can mold the pieces into an effective team. It was a opportune year to get the extra work in over the summer to get a head start on the process. Hoping for good things, but fully cognizant that it could be another dreadful season.

Jeff Goodman commenting that Adam Smith hit 3s & our senior posts (Mitchell & Jacobs) played well in scrimmage vs. Memphis yesterday. We apparently split the 4 qtrs, but scored more pts overall.

Thanks for posting, brother!
Not sure what to make of beating Memphis without their big twosome of talent. Sounds like the competition was a step up from the summer trip?

Optimistic, for Chas. Mitchell to be the difference-along with the other four whom I have already penciled in the lineup(Jorgy/Heath, Smith, Hunt and Jacobs).

Memphis is a lowkey dumpster fire in their own right. I've railed against this quite a bit, but pray the day doesn't come that we hire Josh Pastner in the event we remove BG.

Great recruiter, but not a particularly good in-game coach and they've had as much turnover as we have.

If Adam Smith can "rain 3's" as we all hope he will (and I think he will), it gives this team a dynamic that we have really never seen during the CBG era. We've seen flashes here and there from different guys, but never a guy who game-to-game consistently hits from the perimeter. If it can happen, it changes how opponents defend and opens windows for other guys offensively. Not to mention, it gives you better options late in games.

Let's hope we can find another one for '16'-17 and beyond.

The reality of our shooting situation in 16-17 is the continued progress of Q, Travis, Tadric, & to a lesser degree, Heath. I do think long range shooting is something Okogie is likely to improve this season prior to heading to GT.

Matthews has a good likelihood of developing in to a shooter, but would expect that to take some time.

If a sharp shooting grad transfer (ala Adam Smith) could fall in our lap for '16-'17, it would be a welcome boost for what likely will be a very very challenging season. But, that's then and this is now. Hoping we can at least enjoy this winter.

Still trying to learn about this basketball thingy, is this basketball ? It has a net.

No, that is lacrosse. George Carlin once described it as a "fruity snooty fraternity-ish college activity". Sounds about right. One of - if not THE - dumbest "activities" for spoiled white rich offspring ever made.

interesting that the original game native to North America has become a game of the elitist. I wonder what the Algonquian and Cherokee would think of this development.

5 Duke
6 France

19 Notre Dame

also...
3 Maryland (Big Bob Carter has to be lovin' it)
