Did anyone hear Saban talking about not being able to stop Southern this week? He made them sound really good. Alabama did in fact stop them, but they scored 21 points on Alabama's great d-line.

should be an interesting game this Saturday.

I will be this week. GO EAGLES!

This is on my weekend to-do list of things to laugh my hairy buttocks off about if the Eagles were to win Saturday night. The point spread opened with the Cesspool laying 14. It has dropped to 13 so some money is coming in on the Eagles.

Southern is not Ga. Southern.
Neither GSU plays 'Bama this year.

Ga. Southern did beat Florida last year.

No he wasn't talking about the playing this year. He was talking about them in context of other FCS teams and who they will be a challenge and not a cupcake win on their schedule.

Ga Southern plays in Athens this Saturday....

I know who plays in Athens this week.
They strategically scheduled this game right in front of our game with them next week(both 3O offenses).

I had been planning for weeks to play Ga. Southern on the money line in this game thinking it would be in the +600 to +700 range. Those guys in Vegas seem to know their schlitz so it's only around +400. That's just a little bit better than what I got playing the Good Guys in Athens last year - so not good value. But I will laugh my ass off if they pull it off. Go Eagles!!!

Noticed the Eagles used the shotgun formation all night long.

Edited to point out, this sarcasm is directed at our coach-who could install such in the Spring, if he desired to.

Yes, Southern changed their offense when Fritz got there. They've been in the gun all season. Disappointed they didn't get the job done. I know their fans have to be feeling sick today for a great opportunity lost.

Georgia is bad. We may be worse...especially right now. But, I still say the Cesspool is beatable.

Fritz actually likes to pass, his offense is different than what Monken runs. He just needs the talent like he had in his previous job. I also noticed G. South. has a pass rush. They have excellent form on tackling.

I love CTR, but is he the fall guy after this season?

Yes and no, IMO. I stated multiple times this season would go as our defense goes. It significantly underachieved and so did our season. We played well against FSU and won. We played decent against the Hokies and almost won (should have won). He has few excuses regarding lacking experience and talent, etc. Having said that, it is far from being all on that side of the ball and him specifically and ultimately the head coach (CEO) should be any "fall guy" if there is such a thing.

I like to look at this season as a complete re-set. CPJ (and CTR) gets a mulligan. He can win back a ton of good will with an upset win over the Cesspool. Doesn't make up for the entire season of course, but beating them still would make for at least another ray of sunshine (FSU being the other) to go into the offseason. He's coming off signing of what many consider his best recruiting class.

Now, having said all of that, if the defense doesn't get any better next year, then CTR's behind needs to warm up. I don't subscribe to the concept that losing a bunch of seniors equals gloom and doom either. It should help. That is, experience. But, when that experience is loaded with underachievement, then I welcome new faces to hopefully turn things around. Technically, for instance, during that 20-year stretch of awful football at Duke prior to Cutcliffe, they had returning seniors with experience every year. Didn't make any difference at all. All of those seniors returning from Curry's days didn't help Boss Ross at all.

The mulligan makes good sense to me. He has shown adaptability with his work in the past and after the Carolina game last year. Four years(after next season)should be enough to judge the body of work. Five for a HC, as long as progress is being made along the way.

Funny how Coach Curry(and I love him as a man)tried to take credit for his 10 players left on our MNC Squad in 1990,
