Another faction of an uninspiring/inconsistent season-

We have discussed injuries, youth, poor line play in pass protection, not blocking gaps, lousy pass rushing in pressuring the other QB, inconsistent defense, inconsistent special teams play(excepting HB for the most part)and coaching that has been less than superior....

Now I bring you some other stats. to ponder during the demise from last season:
-from 2008-2013, GT had 197 fumbles(most in FBS, 2.5 per game).
-last year GT fumbled 20 times or 1.4 per game.
-this year GT has already fumbled 20 times or 2.2 p.g,(losing 4 games by 8 points or less).
-in the Va. game, we gained 144 yds. on 33 attempts. The team averaged no less than 273 y.p.g. in each of CPJ's first seven seasons. The Jackets have had 20 games in Johnson's 103 game tenure, where they have rushed for 225 yds. or less, four have been in the last seven games.

Thanks, mate. Great stuff. That last one is eye opening and pretty much tells the story about this offense this year. Ugh! :(

(just hoping they can get to consistent mediocrity thru the remaining 3 games like the defense)

Praying to the football gods (who hate us we have already established) that we get about 4 or 5 turnovers handed to us over these last 3 games as that may be what's needed. Breaker 1-9 to Buddha, ya got ya ears on there, bud? :)

No doubt there's not many bright spots. Except, when you are on the extremes of the stats, you know you won't stay there long. These things tend to even out over that many games.

One of my points in compiling this data is to show that one extra fumble, int., bad pitch on 2nd or 3rd down(even though we might have recovered the ball)has stalled out drives in forcing us to pass or punt, which can be a difference maker in a game.

If you can't pass block and your rushing yardage is down(at Va. it was around 4.5 per carry), that negative play turns the ball over. It is nice getting the big plays, however they can skew the stats. by making it look like we can get 5 yards every play. CPJ called one fumble with Marshall as a "bump on the edge" in surrendering the ball.

We seem to have a problem being the one with the most points at the end of the game. This is a bad problem.

Let's hope this "problem" is solved right after Turkey Day. If so, I'm a happy guy. Not thrilled with the season, but winning that game never gets old regardless of record.

And speaking of problems, I thought we all agreed there would be no math on this board.
