The 9.25 million dollar purse is up for grabs in Akron, Ohio, at the World Golf Championship event this weekend. Matt Kuchar is the only Golfing J who will be teeing it up later today at 2:35pmET. Kooch is currently 28th in the FedEx standings. He will be paired with Japan's Hideki Matsuyama today and tomorrow (10:45amET tee off 10th).

CBS will provide live coverage Sat & Sun starting at 2pmET. Bridgestone WGC Leaderboard: http://www.worldgolfchampionships.com/bridgestone-invitational/leaderboard.html

Matt is barely hanging on at 10th in qualifying automatically for the Presidents Cup to represent the Team USA in South Korea in early October. The top 10 auto qualify. If he falls out there is still the chance he could be picked by this year's Team USA Captain, Jay Haas, who is assisted by Fred Couples, Davis Love III, and Steve Stricker. The points for the Presidents Cup begin accruing after the last PC in 2013 and go through the 2015 Deutsche Bank event Sep. 4-7 Labor Day weekend. Points earned in 2015 events are doubled. Captain Haas will pick 2 additions to Team USA on Sep. 8th.

Six other Golfing J's will be participating in the Barracuda Championship in Pacific Coast Time Zone at the Montreux G&CC in Reno, Nevada. This tournament uses the modified Stapleford scoring system which rewards players for taking risks. Scoring system format... http://golf.about.com/od/progolftours/p/pgatour-reno.htm

Bryce Molder, who will likely retain his PGA card for next year currently at 87th in the FedEx standings, is the first GJ off today at 11:06amET/8:06amPT. Ollie will make his 3rd straight professional start. He has finished in the top 25 in his last 3 events - both events as a pro and The Open at St. Andrews. He tees off today at 11:39amET/8:39amPT. With most all of the "big boys" playing in Ohio, might this be the week Ollie wins his first PGA event and secures his spot for the tour next year? Let's hope.

Troy Matteson tees off at 3pmET today followed by David Duval and Roberto Castro, who are paired together and going off at 3:44pmET. Finally, Nick Thompson will tee off at 4:17pmET. This is an incredibly important event for Thompson who has been playing poorly of late and is teetering on the brink of dropping out of the top 125 - currently standing at #120. Matteson (#219), Duval (#226) and Castro (#186) are way back from the top 125 and need a victory to entertain any thoughts of retaining their card without having to qualify elsewhere later this year.

The Golf Channel will provide live coverage of this event including evenings of Sat & Sun starting at 6pmET/3pmPT. Barracuda Leaderboard: http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/barracuda-championship/leaderboard.html

Good luck to the Golfing J's as the season draws closer to the end. The last major, PGA Championship, is next week at Kohler, Wisconsin.

The way Ollie has been playing recently makes a win this weekend a realistic possibility. That would be such an awesome way to earn his spot on tour next year (and probably the year after?). I wonder how often an exemption is earned by a tourney win alone?

Just as a sample size of 1 reference point, Geoff Ogilvy won the Barracuda Championship in Reno last year with a total of +49 points.

Ollie really stumbled out of the gate with three early doubles. He's battling back now with a couple birdies and a hole in one eagle on the par 3 7th for a total score of +3. He started on the back nine so only two more holes remaining to complete his round.

Ollie is on the outside looking in as he gets set to start his round in a bit. He finished yesterday at +2 and it looks like the cut will be at +7 or so. Castro is in with a +20 after the 2nd round currently in a tie for 6th. Nicholas Thompson is at +14 with a few holes remaining currently sitting at 21st.

Looks like Molder, Thompson and Castro will make the cut. This is great news for Nick as he drives to finish in the top 125. Hopefully he can capitalize on his 6-under (7 birdies + 1 bogey) round he accomplished today leading to 13 pts. With strong rounds tomorrow, both he and Roberto could be in contention Sunday.

Thompson had a great round today! Hope he can carry that momentum through the weekend.

Thompson drops to #122 in the FedEx standings. Kooch remains #10 in the Presidents Cup standings... http://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.140.html

This week the final major, The PGA Championship, takes place in Wisconsin. There will be 3 Golfing J's competing...Hadley, Kuchar, and Tringale.

Missing the cut at the Barracuda has pushed Ollie to the very edge of qualifying for the web.com finals. Ollie has 99 points and the Fedex points list for members looks as follows:

198. Roger Sloan 103
199. Stuart Appleby 100
200. Josh Teater 94

Ollie probably can't afford to miss the cut at the Wyndham Championship.
