Week 8 features the first time all season where all 14 teams are playing conference games. This will happen once more this season in Week 9.

12:00 ABC: #6 Clemson (6-0/3-0) at Miami (4-2/1-1)
*The Tigers dropped back 1 spot in the polls, though they did pick up 1 first place vote in the AP Poll this week, for whatever nothing that is worth. Obvious huge game for the Tigers' national title chances with the big game against the Noles looming on the horizon. Before that game gets here in Week 10 though, the Kitty Cats must get W's in South Florida and then in the Textile Bowl in Raleigh. Neither will be easy. The Canes took care of the Turkey Buzzards and are still in the Coastal race. Their lone loss so far in the ACC was at FSU. So, the Canes control their own destiny. Should be a good one. This is a nationally televised broadcast on ABC so great exposure for the Orangenecks and ACC. Clemson is laying a TD right now.

12:00 ESPN-U: #25 Pitt (5-1/3-0) at Syracuse (3-3/1-1)
*The Panthers move into the top 25 this week with their key win on the road at Tech. With W's in the books at both Blacksburg and Atlanta, Pitt is in great shape right now to win the Coastal. Syracuse lost in triple OT at Gay Paris. That's a tough loss if they hold on to any hopes of qualifying for a MEG this year. Pitt has won 11 of the last 13 in the series. This comes after the tide was turned with a win in 2002 at the Carrier Dome where the Panthers broke an 11-game losing streak to the Orange. Pitt leads the all-time series 36-31-3 now. Pitt is laying 6 1/2 heading into the Carrier Dome.

12:00 RSN: NC State (4-2/0-2) at Wake Forest (3-4/1-3)
*The Pack had an off week to mull over their 2-game losing streak to open ACC play after a September schedule that was labeled Cupcake City. Wake is coming off a pasting by the Tar Holes at Kenan. The Pack was picked as a darkhorse by some to make some noise in the ACC over the summer. Lose at Wake and their chances of making a MEG are in danger as their schedule is getting ready to ramp up significantly over the remainder of the season. NC State is laying 10 at Groves Stadium.

12:30 ACC Network: Boston College (3-4/0-4) at Louisville (2-4/1-2)
*Both teams gave good efforts but lost handily by the final margins at the ACC's top teams this past Saturday. As we all know, BC plays good defense but are limited offensively. While a loss doesn't eliminate either team from qualifying for a MEG, it leaves their room for error very small moving forward. UofL is laying 8 at home.

3:30 ESPN-U: #23 Duke (5-1/2-0) at Virginia Tech (3-4/1-2)
*My how times have changed, eh? Recall not long ago when Duke was the laughing stock of the ACC and Va Tech was king? Well, the Gobblers are laying a field goal at home. Why? I don't really know. The Dukies had the week off to rest and prep for this big game. The top 3 consecutive MEG appearance streaks are 1) Hokies and tied for 2) GT and Cesspool. GT and VPI&SU are definitely on the ropes.

3:30 RSN: Virginia (2-4/1-1) at North Carolina (5-1/2-0)
*These two schools like to hail this series as the "South's Oldest Rivalry". While that is up for debate, they've played one another 119 times. UNC leads 61-54-4 and has won the last 5 coming off the French having won 10 of 12 from '98 thru '09. Carolina is laying a whopping 17 pts at home. Sounds like too many to me. UNC can't afford to stumble here as they position themselves into a 4-way race in the Coastal with Duke, Miami and Pitt.

7:00 ESPN-2: #9 FSU (6-0/4-0) at Ga Tech (2-5/0-4)
*My how the complexion of this game has changed over the last month. Yet, FSU is right now "only" laying 4.5 points at Grant Field. This is down with early money coming in on GT as the line opened at -5.5. WOW! FSU has a very winnable game at home in Week 9 against Syracuse before traveling to what could be the biggest game in the ACC in quite some time at Clemson in Week 10 if the Noles and Kitty Cats can hold serve.

and some other games...

Thursday 7:30 ESPN-U: Georgia Southern (5-1/3-0) at Appalachian State (5-1/2-0)
*The two less smelly teams - by far - in the stinkiest of conferences. Winner of this game wins the Island of Misfit Toys Conference and all the glory that comes with it. Perhaps air fresheners would be an appropriate gift for the victors. Appy State is laying 5 1/2 at home.

3:30 CBS: Tennessee (3-3/1-2) at #8 Alabama (6-1/3-1)
*Well, it will be the 4th Saturday in October this year, but the feeling will still be the same. The Vols have had an extra week to freshen up, pat themselves on the back for finally finishing a game in their big W over the Cesspool, and get themselves ready for Tuscaloosa. Bama is laying 16 1/2. The Vols have led every game this year in the 4th quarter. Should be a good one.

3:30 Comcast Sports Net Mid Atlantic: Richmond (5-1/3-0) at James Madison (7-0/4-0)
*OK OK I admit I am enjoying the moment for the Dukes this week with ESPN Game Day at the 'Burg. These two are the only undefeated teams in CAA play. The Dukes are angling to be the overall #1 seed in the D1AA playoffs if they can run the table. This week's homecoming game against the Spiders and next week at Bill & His Old Lady are the two major roadblocks to that happening. Tickets are sold out at Bridgeforth Stadium. Should be a good one.

Random observation of the day...

The SEC-East is 1-6 vs the SEC-West so far. The lone win is Florida's upset of Ole Miss at The Swamp.

The SEC-East has played 17 non-SEC games so far. Only 2 of them have been against P5 teams. They are collectively 1-1 in those 2 games...Vols lost to Sooners at home and USCe defeated UNC in Charlotte. The Tar Holes looking back have to be kicking themselves for losing to such a crap stain team as the Cocks now. UNC should be sitting at 6-0 right now.

Remaining games for each scenario...

vs SEC-West:
Oct. 24 Tennessee at Alabama (Bama favored by 16.5)
Oct. 24 Kentucky at Mississippi State (Miss St favored by 11)
Oct. 31 South Carolina at Texas A&M (*A&M favored by 15)
Thu, Nov. 5 Mississippi State at Missouri (*MSU favored by 4)
Nov. 14 Cesspool at Auburn (*Cesspool favored by 2)
Nov. 21 Texas A&M at Vanderbilt (*A&M favored by 16)
Fri, Nov. 27 Missouri at Arkansas (*Arkansas favored by 5)

*what the line would be today using Sagarin's power rankings formula as an estimator

vs P5 non-SEC:

Nov. 28 FSU at Florida (*UF favored by 2)
Nov. 28 Cesspool at Ga Tech (*Cesspool favored by 4)
Nov. 28 Louisville at Kentucky (*UofL favored by 2)
Nov. 28 Clemson at South Carolina (*Clemson favored by 14)

Clemson 42-0 over Miami in a barren Dolphins Stadium. Will Al Golden be fired after this game?

Way to go, Kitty Cats! "Clemsoning" may now start standing for kicking the ever living schlitz out of unranked opponents.

Wow!
