The Tour makes its final stop in Greensboro before the FedEx Cup events get going next week. Last chance for players to make their moves to get into the Top 125 and qualify for those tournaments starting with The Barclays (Aug 25-28) in Farmingdale, NY.

5 Golfing J's will be playing this week. They include (with current FedEx Cup standing in parenthesis):

  • Roberto Castro (56)
  • Stewart Cink (161)
  • Chesson Hadley (159)
  • Bryce Molder (76)
  • Cameron Tringale (101)
Matt Kuchar (16) will sit this one out after a very busy stretch including the long journey to win his bronze medal this past weekend in Brazil. Looks like 4 GJ's will be in good shape to make the first FedEx event. Tringale will have some work to do to continue forward after that.

CBS will have live network TV coverage this weekend. Chance of t'storms every day - especially on Thursday.

3 GJ's in the morning session on Thursday... Cink 7:40am, Hadley 7:50am*, and Tringale 8:30am*...2 in the afternoon: Castro 12:15pm, Molder 1:35pm*

Looks like the weather might cooperate, but they'll be dodging some quick-moving t'storms all 4 days.

Friday tee times... Castro 7:00am*, 8:20am...Cink 12:55pm*, Hadley 1:05pm, and Tringale 1:45pm

Roberto Castro with a blazing 64 (-6) today moves him to -4 for the tournament and is currently tied for 21st. Cink is -2 thru 4 holes today.

Molder finished +3 today to unfortunately move him to +1 and outside the projected cut line (-1).

I'm so pleased to be saying this for the second weekend in a row, but great to see Stewart Cink playing some solid golf. He's -3 thru 8 holes in this morning's 3rd round and playing himself into contention. Currently as I type this he's tied for 12th and 5 shots off the lead (and just 3 shots out of 2nd place).

GO STEWART!!

Also note, Molder and Tringale missed the cut. Hadley and Castro both at -5 for the tournament and under par in their early rounds today.

Both Molder and Tringale will each still finish in the top 125, securing their cards for next season while also moving them forward to next week's Barclays FedEx Event #1 of 4. Tringale will have some work to do there to qualify for advancing further. Same for Bryce for that matter, though he should be in better shape in the rankings.
